Is it possible to remove admin accounts without password on Mojave?

    Hi All,

Just wanted to ask is it possible to remove admin user accounts on Mojave when you do not have the admin password for the account you want to remove? We have our own account setup as an admin but the customers setup their own also as an admin.

We have a loaner A1708 we leant to a customer while we were repairing her A2442. Customer decided she would setup her own account despite me setting up an account for her. We obviously do not have her password and unfortunately, she cannot remember what password she used so now we have a second admin account we would like to remove so we do not risk revealing personal info to future customers.

Also, for reference is there a way to disable the requirement for an admin account to install programs on MacOs? That's how the customer added her own account, we stupidly gave her the admin password for ours as the account we setup for her was a normal non admin account and she phoned us as she was unable to install her required programs.

    Thanks for your assistance.

Create a time machine backup in future, and restore it once you get it back from loan.

Thanks for that didn't think of that. Definitely do that in future. For now is there a way to remove the account she created since she doesn't know her password?

As a last resort I can log into our admin account and try factory reset the machine again, but would it let me with her also as a admin?

Also, whenever we do a factory reset it always bricks the drive and goes back to the question mark folder why is that? We always have to do a internet recovery on it with a Mojave USB stick installed to get it to reinstall MacOs, direct from the network always fails.

Log in to your account with admin rights, should be able to delete the other account in the Users tab under System Preferences. Press the - button after you unlock. Pretty sure I've done that on other MAC's without problem.

If you erase the drive, you still need to reinstall MAC OS.

Thanks that worked. Surprised it lets you delete other admin accounts without their password. I've created a time machine backup so this wont be a issue in the future hopefully. Thanks again for your assistance.
