    HP 530 Dead

Hello people of Badcaps forum ,im new user here and want to share my problem.
Recently i bought laptop HP 530 from a friend. First the laptop had GPU problem.
Then i resoldered GPU and NB,still nothing. Friend accidentally had short circuited the laptop from battery connector. (friend sayd he tryed to turn it on using broken powerjack ,so he took "ground" and "positive" wires and tried to put them on battery connector.) I took the mobo apart ,and saw burned transistor (NC 3 legs),it was located near the battery connector.
I took new 3 leg transistor from DV6000 mobo and replaced it with burned one , still nothing.
The lappy is complete dead as it was . No lights at all. When battery had some power then yellow led blinked. But as soon as it ran complete off ,it stopped even blinking . When i connect charger with laptop it doesnt even start to charge the battery.
Where and how can i find the faulty microchip/transistor?

    Kaur.

    Re: HP 530 Dead

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

First thing to do is to take good pictures of the pcb. That will aid ppl that isnt familiar with that particular model in helping you.

Typically, shorts from the charge side especially, will burn out your power controller. It's usually a Maxim IC but on some they use Texas Instruments. At this point however, you probably are better off replacing the motherboard all-together. If the power controller is shot, then you could also have shorts on the standby voltage rail - which are an absolute PITA to find. I'm curious how you "resoldered" the GPU. Did you reflow it or replace the GPU? If you replaced it, you could also have a short on the underside. I stopped doing reballs for this reason - just wasn't worth the hassle.

        Re: HP 530 Dead

I am sorry that i was away for some time . I sold the laptop to a friend of mine ( hes an old man, repairs laptops etc). 2 hours after i sold my laptop he called and sayd "Thank you , i repaired the laptop". The problem was , there were 1 IC controller (8-leads) and 1 resistor burnt near power connector. Still ,the reflow i did for GPU and NB helped , cause now he managed to get into windows (which i assume that pc reqonized the GPU). I have many things to learn about repairing a motherboard (on chip level).

I am sorry about my faulty english skill ,im from Estonia. And Thanks for the answers you can close this thread.

          please help friend's thinkpad T480 NM-b501 dead, VSYS_OUT 9.2v, thank you
          by fredyjbi
Please help sir, this board does not turn on because VSYS_OUT is 9.2v, I compared it with a normal board VSYS_OUT is 10.2v, I have replaced the PQ101 and PQ102 mosfet and BQ 25700 which is known to be good, but the results are still the same, thank you

          VSYS_OUT 9.2v
Meter in resistance mode auto range 6M ohm ok

          NORMAL BOARD VSYS_OUT 10.2V

          Dell dockstation WD15 is dead
          by Francesc V.
          Hi:

A friend gave me this DELL WD15 dockstation that does nothing. Not detected by computer, no digital output.........just leds shines when it’s plugged in.
Here are the findings, followed by good pictures. :-)

          When pluged in, LED3 glows
Measuring some voltage in the circuit.

          Inductors
          - PL202 has 5V
          - PL201 has 3.3V
          - PL300 has 1V

          V. Regulators
          - UT30 has 19v as input and 6V as output. It seems ok.
          - UT27 (same reference as UT30, has no input/output voltage).

How can I be sure that my EC chip is dead?
          by double_DD
          Hi all,

As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?

I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.

Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard...

Panasonic SU-HTB18 dead power supply (unidentified transistor)
          by Dannyx
Good day folks. I had a look at this soundbar from Panasonic today and it seemed like an easy enough fix, but then I got stuck.

Have a look at that fried primary. I reckon the transistor popped and took out the current sense resistors with it before the fuse could open to cut the power. I thought I'd have a hard time figuring out what values those are, as it usually happens when SMD resistors go up in smoke, but thankfully I was able to clean them enough to read 1r60 on there, which is 1.6ohms, so that was sorted - we need 8 of those.

On to the transistor: it's one...

          by disorder
          hello guys,

          i need help to repair a edm-033 ps2
history : as always hdmi port and usb ports destroyed after unplugged
after change them, ps5 dead too : 1 beep, no blue light. after inspection 1.8v power was shorted, and because of dead panasonic chip. after remove it : no short anymore
          so i changed it
now i have got 5v stby,, 3.3v stby, 3.3v power, 1.8v power and no short on them
but the ps5 is dead again : 1 beep, near 10 seconds with power lines and then off, no blue light ...

i don't see any projection of liquid metal on pcb.
