Hi:
A friend gave me this DELL WD15 dockstation that does nothing. Not detected by computer, no digital output.........just leds shines when it’s plugged in.
Here are the findings, followed by good pictures. :-)
When pluged in, LED3 glows
Measuring some voltage in the circuit.
Inductors
- PL202 has 5V
- PL201 has 3.3V
- PL300 has 1V
V. Regulators
- UT30 has 19v as input and 6V as output. It seems ok.
- UT27 (same reference as UT30, has no input/output voltage).
Thermal findinds
- UE1 (the «PIC» chip gets hot over time in minutes)
- UT30 gets warm
- DT7 marked as «5C» gets warm. I thought it was faulty. By marking it might seem a NPN transistor, but indeed it reads as a double diode with common cathode at pin 2. Not able to find real refererence, though. (did a fast test replacing with a NPN transistor and it got HOT in seconds)
The switch receives about 4V from DT7 and goes to 0 when pressed..........nothing happens.
JUSB2 is the only one that receives 5V (plug in a USB meter). The other three are dead.
More or less this is the summary.........not sure if someone has troubleshoot any of these DELL dockstations
Voltage to UT27_in might seem to come from PQ105 source.........
