A1466 Dead and Not turning on. Had repaired it before

Hi guys, I have an A1466 (820-00165-A) board which came in dead, had corrosion on R7181 near ISL6259 chip. I removed corrosion and replace R7181 and the macbook powered on.

After sometime I didn't get any light on the charger but fan was spinning and I was getting battery charge logo on the screen, so I replaced the ISL6259 chip and it came on! everything was working fine.

(NOTE: Customer had previously got the battery replaced from another shop and it was third party bad quality)

I had used my test SSD and my known good original battery.

When I plugged in my customers SSD and battery, The macbook came on 3-4 times, but after that it went to login screen, I typed password and the display became glitchy.

Now, I dont get any post on the macbook but fan is spinning. It spins once, stops for a few secs and starts again. I have noted when it starts spinning for the first time All voltages are present, but when it stops and starts again there are no voltages present.

    Please help

If you are getting all voltages, including CPU Vcore, twice, then it reverts back to S5 state, this is usually CPU related. It's something I've seen on many 820-00165 boards and I'm 99.9% sure reballing the CPU would resolve it. I don't have the right gear to pull a CPU off one of these boards to prove that. But I've spent enough time on double pulse boards to rule out everything but the CPU.

check if ppbus_g3h is stable at 8.6 volt the whole time when it power on off and so on.

ppbus_g3h goes to 8.50 from 8.55 when it power off and on

A2338 M1 Not turning on - Repaired slightly but still having issues

Repaired a customers computer, had a faulty APL 1097 chip and replaced, all well, not shorted anymore, however I am finally getting 12.28Volts on PPBUS_AON, however it stays at 12.28 and doesn't increase to the normal 12.60 Volts. I read that this is the cause
              • If the voltage is approximately 12.28-12.35V, it may indicate a communication issue between the SOC and PMICs, or corrupt firmware.
Can someone point to me what would be the next step to fix this. I can feel we are getting close to fixing this board, however this is a data recovery and we need to fix the computer to recover the data....

No sign of life : Disconnecting the battery reset the Firmware and solved it

Judging by the Charger getting hot : It charged fine . Replugging it drew ~220mA for 15 seconds than 0.00 = Bat. IC negotiations.
Key combinations didn't solve the problem
Opened to inspect the board but it looked mint ( <2Yr old device ) , opening involves disconnection the Battery. Battery measured 4.2V .
Decided an hour later to reconnect the Battery and check On/Off - maybe the Firmware was reset as it does in laptops ( needs V to keep the settings )

              Works fine...

How can I be sure that my EC chip is dead?
              by double_DD
              Hi all,

As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?

I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.

Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard...

              Logic board:820-3437B

Problem: It came as dead-no light at all on magsafe.

Steps taken:On observation under microscope, Found U1900 badly corroded on pin1-2-3-4. Desoldered the Ic, cleaned the tracks and resoldered it. No corrosion anywhere else, no liquid damage. MB started, fan spinned and there was chime,I turned it off & left it on the table overnight.Next morning the mb refuses to start-magsafe remains green(not going orange) and no fan spin. Consumption fluctuating up and down from 0.008A to 0.330A on dc bench supply. Lifted U1900 again...
