I have a Gordak 952 soldering rework station that was emitting a burning smell when using it. At first it was quite small but over time it became worse. I decided to open and look and to my surprise 2 large resistors had been overheating and their covering had completely burned off. Because of this, I am unable to see their value. But today a friend of mine had almost the same model Gordak fail and I can see the color bands on his, but when trying to determine the value I am unable to. Can someone tell me the value? Seems these resistors heat up and burn the area of the board around them. The bands look to be black-black-brown-black or gray?

Re: GORDAK 952 Rework soldering station problems
From other pictures of the Gordak 952 board, the two resistors are each 300R 3W, in parallel- to make a 150R 6W resistor. I can't find them on the posted schematics. I think they feed the connector with two green wires. Whatever that is, it needs to be fixed, it is drawing too much current.
ugh cryllic

Re: GORDAK 952 Rework soldering station problems
o.k. they are across the green wires - so where do they go??
btw, desolder the resistors and meter them - they may still be good.
and resolder the 3pin thing on the right that shows signs of getting hot.Comment

Re: GORDAK 952 Rework soldering station problems
Sorry for late reply, with COVID and all there hasn't been much work and I didn't need the rework for a while. It has now stopped working. I noticed before it stopped working that the lights would come on for a split second and turn off when I plug it in, even though the switches are off. Then after a couple of days of that for some reason the light would be on all the time even though the unit was powered off, but plugged in. Now when I turn it on, the temperature shoots up to like 300°C and instantly shoots back down to 000°C and remains there. No heat comes out, only cold air. I believe these devices have a resistor in the nozzle head, the hose might have gone bad?Comment

Re: GORDAK 952 Rework soldering station problems
I've removed and measured the two burned resistors R39 & R40 and they are measuring 18.54 - 18.58K ohms. Says on schematic they should be 18K so I assume they are fine. I suspect it might be one of the 5 big transistors T4 specifically.Comment

Re: GORDAK 952 Rework soldering station problems
I will check for cold solder joints. I will try to replace the hose and nozzle assembly with a new one to determine if this is problem with the board or hose. I will also change the pump from another device incase the heating element has gone bad but I doubt that. I really want to fix this because this model is the original 2 board Gordak and is more than 10 years old hasn't been used at all maybe a couple times a week. The new ones are so much lighter and have only 1 board inside, and they are crap, they fail within 6 months to a year of normal usage like 5-10 mins a day.Comment

by sam_sam_samI have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails
I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time... -

A few months ago,I have purchased 0.1mm Soldering Iron Tip of below aliexpress link,But I noticed that It is totally impossible to use this 0.1mm iron tip in the T12 soldering station
https://ko.aliexpress.com/item/4001275635593.html
Is there any good soldering station which is possible to use 900M-TJ-I tip and have inexpensive or reasonable price in aliexpress?
Any reply would be appreciated. -
by capriderHey,
I'm looking for some recommendations of a decent quality soldering station and a separate hot air station. I'm just a hobbyist, so even if (ultra)premium tools are not required, I still want some good tools. They should be available in Europe.
I now have a TS100 and some soldering irons and looking for some better tools.
1. Soldering station, budget around 200-240€
JBC BT-2BWA seems to be a good product in the budget.
2. Hot air station, budget around 200€
Up to now I've found ATTEN ST-862D to be a good option.... -
by shahnldGood day.
i received used bga rework station wds-580 which was not going above 300c despite the parameter was set to 350c, Everytime beeps at 300c so i did a factory reset and by mistake washed data and log etc. now the station boots to a white screen.
Does anyone has a firmware for this station and want to share with me. i will really appreciate any help possible..
kind regards...03-28-2024, 01:14 PM -
by mkbehbehI purchased this soldering station when it was on sale at amazon. It had a slew of one star reviews, but the price was low enough that even if the controller and PSU were toast, the handle tips and stand were worth more than the price. All of the reviews mentioned that the unit was either DOA, or died on the first use. I looked on Aliexpress and the first clue was that KSGER still sold the 220V version of this station, but all of the 110V versions had been discontinued. I figured That there was a problem with the 110V on the power suppply and the controller would be fine.
