(And I have plenty of 19-24” LCD monitors, which is my preferred size, so not much use as a monitor either… but jury’s out on that as well.
Don’t think anyone will be interested in it, but will see / try again. I bought a used remote for it for $6, so it’s a complete set now (I guess that’s the nice thing about older Samsung TVs – remotes are abundant and cheap on eBay.) The TV is currently set up as a monitor with a spare PC I have. It doesn’t see much use, as I use that PC only for testing software or burning DVDs once in a while. The TV also doesn’t look too bad when used for watching extended wide screen content, such as shown below, where the screen defect is not visible at all:
