Hi Guys, Im facing a similar issue and would appreciate any advice or help. I tried the clean bios listed earlier and the machine booted but now its not turning on again. It seems to turn on intermittently.
I have removed the Cmos battery and when I insert the power cable the fans spin and then stop and then spin again and stop and eventually just stop. If i remove and reconnect the power cable the fans will spin again but even less times until eventually reinserting the power cable shows no sign of life at all.
Does anyone have any ideas on what else could be the issue.? My original bios is attached.
Hi!
I tried to update the bios on this computer and it failed and corrupted the bios.
I tried the hp recovery didnt work.
I downloaded the bios bin for HP flashed it and it boots but i have no serial number etc.
It was in MPM but serial number was readonly could not set it.
DMI tool didn't work too.
The serial number in UEFI tool is in a padding area but it is in different size than the new one.
I have old bios backup and it has serialnumber i found it in hex editor.
Could someone please transer the old data to the new bios.
Serial Number: 8CG9227XK9

Found the solution.
Just flash Bios from clean HP.
when you boot into bios go to security tab.
Press CTRL+A and open System IDS
You can type in your in here if you cant find them go to https://partsurfer.hp.com/ and type in your serialnumber
Feature byte is case sensitive and you should not type in the spaces.
I did it 8 chareters per line and it worked.
Hi csberti03,
I used the clean bios and entered feature bytes manually, but can't succeed with windows activation.
Not sure how relevant is following, but /sys/firmware/acpi/tables/MSDM is not there in Linux.
