    Supermicro S2DL3 bad cap.

    Hello..Excellent forum here..

The supermicro board S2DL3 has the bad cap problem as well. It is a dual XEON board with serverworks 3 chipset.. Machine experienced random reboots.. I let it rest for a while until the recent issue with the Dell GX270 bad cap recall came to light. Out of a whim, I checked the board and about 5 1000uf 10v caps were swelled.

I regret not taking pics..however, I replaced all the 1000uf caps on the board with new panasonic low esr caps..around 19 of them in total.. They original looked like the rubycon knockoff caps..(rulycon) It seems to be working fine after replacement. This is a $600 board which got a new lease in life after $20 in caps. Thanks to the info here even though it did not apply to my board.. Excellent and I hope to participate where I can..

Funny how $20 not spent from the get go left you in this position isn't it...yet some will argue that a mainboard is just another throw away consumer good...

just remember if its green and says nrsy its bad.
my test for those caps it to drop them in the can.
if they clunk when they hit the bottom they were bad.

Expensive, yes. It is a dual xeon board with on board scsi and 64 bit PCI slots.. Quite a bit expensive 4+ years ago. It is a server board..so, price was expected to be a bit high.. When it worked, it was a solid workstation/server board which was extremely fast.

Here is a picture link: Click Me

The caps are those by the two cpu slots to the right of the board.

What I meant was how can you tell by the clunk that the cap is bad?

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                    Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Got in way over my head with Supermicro server board and upgrade.
                    by FeerBaron
Last year I bought a server. It's worked fairly well but had some issues. Some pcie slots didn't work and Xeon v4 is a bit slow and missing AVX 512. Came to realize that the next version up, with skylake uses mostly the same chassis.

A board popped up on ebay one day being sold for parts. A working board like this is over a grand at best. This particular one was about $125 and I decided to gamble.

At first it seemed simple enough. According to the description it looked like some mechanical damage.

                    by Hakuu
                    Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

                    More Details

                    TV Model - LG OLED77G1PUA

Got the same exact TCON board from TVPartsToday and replaced it. But didnt transfer the EPPROM data (didnt...

                    Sony xbr-65x900c main board issues?
                    by jb_Bak
Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
