    recapping fail!

not only partial but it never would have worked due to the mistake.
gotta love it when folks try to fix their own stuff!

Looks like he used Nich HE too. Totally unsuited to that application
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

Gotta love it. "Oh, these two caps failed prematurely, surely they were just duds and the other ones should be fine!" I give them credit for at least trying though

I don't think you can since they left one blown cap.

...And installed one of the new caps the wrong way around!

Yep, that one capacitor is definitely in backwards:

evga tends to use cheap capacitors.

              Cheap capacitors is one thing
Fake polymer capacitors is a whole different thing

They're not "fake polymers", they're just sleeveless electrolytics. Even Panasonic makes those, although Panasonic's are good.

                    System76 partial power-on, VDD1.05 out fail
                    by johnnylotto
                    Laptop:
Hello, I have a System76 Gazelle laptop (model gaze14) which now only partially powers on and does not boot properly.

                    History:
This laptop has served me well for a few years. It's always been a bit noisy with the fans and recently became much more so on both fans, where just opening a vim/notepad session would cause the fans to spin up loudly and make a grating sound, like the ball bearing were mechanically wearing out. So after blowing the dust out of the fans out didn't help, I ordered replacement fans and heat sink component from System76 which were sold...

Trying to Revive - Eufy Security Wired Wall Light Cam S100 - No Power
                    by KYBOSH

This found its way to my workbench this week.

                    Wired Wall Light Cam S100

The buyer thought he got a great deal but it turns out it was likely dead and the seller tried to get anything they could for it by passing it off on an unsuspecting buyer.
Rather than tossing it in the bin he gave it to me to play with as he knows how much I love to try to solve problems like these.

The camera portion of this device worked fine when powered via USB but when on the mains it would not work at all.
This reminded me of the eufy floodlight...

Recapping Sony ICF-SW55 - verifying cap values
                    by proxneo
                    Dear reader

I am performing a repair on a Sony ICF-SW55, which includes recapping (some) of the SMD capacitors on the mainboard. I am looking for verification of their values. At the moment, I'm 95% sure I've got the right values, but it is hard to find some official, credible or multiple independant sources on this.

At the moment, I have selected replacements based on the following list of values:

                    3 x 470uF 10VDC
                    3 x 4.7uF 35VDC
                    4 x 47uF 50VDC
                    8 x 22uF 6.3 VDC
                    1 x 220uF 6.3VDC
                    5 x 100uF 6.3VDC

                    Which...

                    TV Model: Hitachi 40HYC42
                    Power Supply: 17IPS71
                    MainBoard: 17MB95M
                    Panel: VES400UNDS-2D-NO3

When the set came in it was dead. Fuse was open primary side and the power mosfet was shorted. So I ordered a new power supply. Now it turns on, only displays "Hitachi" and then power off red and blue led flashing.

I had to modify the 0ohm resistors in the led backlight of the new PS like the original power supply.
Is there any variants on 17IPS71 power supply's?

UART output pins 10 and 12 on scart connector:

                    Code:
