    GP-8IDML repairs (possible)

    While out searching through my favourite place...the dump, I stumbled on a Gigabyte GP-8IDML motherboard and 1.6 ghz p4 processor(!) still installed in a pc case that looked like it had met an axe in a dark alley. I could easily see that one cap had blown away and two others were visibly bulging and leaking.
    Before I start working on this, is it worth it?

    If so, what other caps must be replaced on this boad?

      It's definitely worth it, replace all caps.

          Check if it works first, for all we know, the board could be as dead as the mosquitoes I zapped last night.

              The board could be dead and still be able to be revived with a recap. I've revived several. If you don't want to risk it, i'd be happy to. I probably have the caps available to blow through it quickly.

                  Nevermind.
                  I found a better gigabyte mobo. A GA-8IDX with bulging choyo caps. We also got some sanyo's and GSC's

                  Oh look, itty-bitty choyo's!

                  Anyways, this seems more likely to run but probably needs every cap changed. Time to get a new soldering iron tip.

                                      I have a Samsung QE55Q65B with a seemingly common problem: it turn off and back on after a few seconds, (sometimes more, and in rare instances works for hours). D001 on the left side of the panel is very hot. I may be able to remove it with a very fine iron, but i don't have the equipment to re-solder such small parts.

                                      Is there a risk to run the tv without this diodes diodes? And is it worth to pay someone else to replace it. I read many people who ended up with bad lines after trying to remove/replace them, , or the panel failing in another way, so i want to weight...

                                      I will be pulling my crown vic ECU and recapping it. 3 in total, 47uf 16v x2 and a 10uf 63v
                                      I hope they havent puked yet. I was thinking of replacing them with Aluminum - Polymer thru hole caps. probably 47uf 25v and 10uf 80v
                                      They arent cheap. Anyone have any experience with them? Am I wasing my money on premium caps?

                                      Creating a Testing Jig for TV Repairs -

                                      I was watching a YT episode from Nick's TV Repair and he literally had a test jig comprised of all the internal components of a TV on a wooden board.
                                      I thought that was amazingly smart as I always thought that TV repair businesses had a room of various actual TVs they would use to do testing.
                                      My question is how was he able to connect this generic looking external display to the jig? The connectors are intentionally covered up by cardboards so we cant see it but i wonder if its a custom in-house device or something that could be purchased online?

                                      i got myself a complete Antminer T17+ with 3 dead hasboards for a very good price.... for parts i bought S17PRO boards.... i replaced all missing resistors and changed some asics because they were bad... but wihout a tester... i used the miner instead and changed firmware to awesome miner firmware for better and faster diagnoses via miner log and lower fan speed...

                                      for my understanding and what i read on the internet these asics should be interchangeable in one chain but in my case i´m getting no more communication to none of the asics on all 3 boards. 2 of the boards weren´t in...

                                      Coil replacement - is it worth it?

                                      I am trying to repair this ATX SMPS and I realised once I've replaced the 5V IC that also the coil is gone.

                                      Where (and how) do you look for these parts? same piece or similar that I could try to use it? is it worth it? :-)
