Took home a comp from my school's computer graveyard today, upon examination I found 2 Tayeh 1500@6.3 8mm bulging, 1 leaking. Not surprised at all as case ventilation is bad and internals very dusty. Other caps (Tayeh and Wendell) look ok. May or may not replace the caps; input? Currently has a K6-2 350MHz.

Re: Soyo SY-5EHM v1.1 Tayeh
You can actually have too many computers.
I know this first hand, and at some point you decide to toss some.
I tried giving some away but they come back to haunt you.
I've found the decideing factor to be USB.
Got USB, OK, no , toss.Jim -
Re: Soyo SY-5EHM v1.1 Tayeh
As Jim said, probably not worth fixing unless you have a specific use for it, as a router or file-server or something. Both Tayeh and Wendell are guaranteed crap at the same level as GSC/Gloria/Lelon/YEC, and all of them should be replaced as a matter of course.Comment

It has USB, so I'll keep it. By that same token, I should sell my PowerEdge. But I won't as it makes a nice table.Comment

I'm suggesting that K6-2 computer should be recapped, unless you don't have a use for it. I have thrown away a K6-2 450MHz computer because it had just three bad caps and it did have USB, and that's haunting me right now!My gaming PC:

DON'T THROW ANYTHING AWAY!!! My garage is the island of lost computers. While I don't have any PC pre 386 anymore, I do have a bunch of Microchannel, a TI994A and an IBM PS/2 that weighs about 80 lbs.Comment

by silencerarHi! I have an old SY-7VBA133 that I can't manage to turn on. The power supply works and the processor does as well.
According to the manual it looks like it should have a 5v indicator led, which doesn't turn on (I really don't know where it's located either)
I've noticed that it has a capacitor next to the power supply connector that is slightly bulged. Before I try to replace it, do you think it could be the cause for this motherboard not turning on?
There are 3 capacitors, it's the one in the middle.
I've uploaded a picture of it here... -
by rattlesnakeHi guys,
I'm going to recap this baby. I found it dumped in the street years ago, and now it's time has come. I remember having tested it and it posted back then.
Original caps are bulged and look nasty. All are SACON
11 x 1000uF 10v
12 x 1500uF 10v
1 x 470uF 16v
11 x 22uF 25v
1 x 10uF 25v
The smaller ones look fine. Should I replace them too?
I read on another forum that I could replace the 1500uF caps with 2200uF caps. Is that so?
The thing is I could get Sanyo 2200uF or Capxon 1500uF (or Jackon 1500uF)....-

The dates are at the end of the summary, and it's pretty late in the game. Not that it makes much difference for me anyway, since I'm not in the US. You still have time to make a claim though.

by ssl6Hey Everyone,
Long time lurker, but I think this is my first time posting.
Just looking for some assistance on identifying some suitable replacement capacitors for an MSI K7T266 Pro (Ver. 1.0). I just got my hands on two of them actually, both working but one has some visibly bulging capacitors and the other has a few that I can't tell for sure if they're bulging because it's faint at best if they are.
I'll be honest I don't fully understand much on capacitor spec sheets beyond voltage and capacitance but I can solder like nobodies business so I've... -
by Dan81Got one of the oldies here, and it finally bit the dust.
Originally came with Wendell caps and would not power on until I replaced all the bigger Wendell caps with 1500uF Panasonic FL.
It will now power on fine, but will not POST - on power on I just get a continuous rapid clicking from the speaker, regardless whether I have RAM inserted or not. CPU is a P3 500MHz Katmai, but I have tried a 550 Katmai and a 650 Coppermine model as well.
Any help is appreciated, as I would love to get this board working and replace the Acorp 6VIA81P... - Loading...
