  • Re: MSI K7T266 Pro (Ver. 1.0)

alright, that works for me. I guess I'm placing a digikey order though. Based on stock and pricing in Canada, I'm going order these to replace those Tayeh and Chhsi

okay, so for critical caps, the OS-CONs are the Sanyo caps. they look fine visually so I don't think there's any need to replace them

as for the other larger caps near the ram, those tayeh/no name 6.3v 1500uF caps. These are some I definitely want to replace as they're well known to be bad from my knowledge. I can order order these as a replacement for them

Unless I go polymer, not sure what would be recommended? from my...

Here's some pictures of the board. You can see a few of the smaller no name 6.3v 1000uF caps are bulgy. but the slightly larger 1500uf caps are no names as well and they currently look okay, but I'd like to change them.

The large chemi-con kze 4700uF caps all look okay on both boards and unless someone tells me there's an issue with those from that era I'm not really inclined to replace them

As stated, I have some Rubicon YXS series 6.3v 1000uF caps I can use for the small guys where a few are bulging. enough to replace...

  • MSI K7T266 Pro (Ver. 1.0)

    Hey Everyone,

Long time lurker, but I think this is my first time posting.

Just looking for some assistance on identifying some suitable replacement capacitors for an MSI K7T266 Pro (Ver. 1.0). I just got my hands on two of them actually, both working but one has some visibly bulging capacitors and the other has a few that I can't tell for sure if they're bulging because it's faint at best if they are.

I'll be honest I don't fully understand much on capacitor spec sheets beyond voltage and capacitance but I can solder like nobodies business so I've...

    Re: Acer al1916w

is it safe to buy an ebay kit then or something? is there a recommended seller for them is what i;d like to know?

i know i've seen repair kits for these, whats a good place to order a full kit from, i don't want to have to make and pay shipping on 6 different orders, it would be nice to get everything in one shot?

i have another one of these acer's as well, but the other one has a DAC-19M008 that i was searching for info on repairing here too. be nice if i could find out whats wrong with that

i've also got an HP L1955...

    started a topic Acer al1916w

    Acer al1916w

picked up an acer monitor last night. found 2 dead caps in it, which i don't have on hand, but after doing some research, i found that they are bad for blowing mosfets and a fuse as well.

so right now, i just have a question about mosfets really. i'm picking everything up locally if i can. which is where my question comes in

i want to know if this part should be compatible with the old part

  • Re: CCFL inverter boosting?

oh, they are 3.1k....i thought the colors were orange/orange/red, my bad

but seems like you've got better advice to follow now. if you do find diagrams for making an inverter, post back, i might actually be interested

  • Re: CCFL inverter boosting?

you're not using the tubes that go with that inverter i assume? if you are using the ones that came with it, seems to me it should power both evenly. the circuits look pretty parallel on each side, if you switch the tubes around, does you get the same result on the other tube, or is it the same tube that lights up halfway?

maybe try taking off the 3.3k resistors and go 3k flat? i dunno, too technical for me really

  • Re: Antec truepower psu's

ok, so if i get a better 10v cap to replace the current 10v caps, would i not get lower ESR still than using better 6.3v caps? did i say that right?

maybe i'll try to put it in point form

-using generic-ish 10v caps where 6.3 cap would go = lower ESR
-using high grade 6.3v caps where 10v caps existed = still lower ESR
-using high grade 10v caps where 6.3v caps could go = lower than still lower ESR

??? this stuff is a little out there for me. I'm just a lowly tech, a grunt if you well.....I think...

  • Re: Antec truepower psu's

the green caps? i'm honestly not sure.....I had a really hard time reading the gold writing on them, couldn't get the light angle right to read the brand marking, that or my eye sight is just that bad. it'll be tough to check them now since the 550w antec they're are in is back together in the wifes machine working well....for how long though, i'm not sure

now its just the 480w and 380w that need fixing, though the 380w got some components from the 480w so i can at least use it for now until i get new caps in. then there's the msi board,...

  • Re: Antec truepower psu's

hmm, as much as I would like to replace them all, the budget is somewhat tight at the moment, so I'm really just looking to replace what needs replacing at the moment.

one thing I'm wondering though, replacing the 10v caps with 6.3v, would they not take a little more strain inside the psu? being such a tight spot, little airflow to keep them cool? I can see how the motherboard may benefit, the mosfets not having to work as hard, maybe run cooler, which may help bring down ambient temps in a more compact case? i was talking to my friend about...

  • Re: Antec truepower psu's

    Thanks for the welcome guys.

so the 4700's aren't really 4700's? thats fine then as long as I can use the 3300's like I was thinking, I thought of it after comparing the two truepower 2.0's, and the older Truepower, and the older one being the only one with 4700uf caps there. Either way, I thought the 3300's would be safe, but it was more of a guess on my part, though so far my guessing has been working out.

so since both of you seem to recommend the Samxon RS series, I'll try to pick those before anything else, and then stick...

  • Antec truepower psu's

i have 3 antec truepower psu's here that I'm working on re-capping. I fixed a monitor last week that kind of got me in the mood. My budget is tight, and I have the time, so i figure spending 20-30$ rather than spending 150$~ on replacing 3 psu's isn't a bad idea, gives me something to do too.

I have a thread on another forum, its easier to just link, but this might give you guys an idea of what I have going on here. to be honest, I'm kind of disapointed with Antec now, though I've had these for quite some time, and they have treated me well, but I don't think I'll buy antec anymore....
