Also, I found a service manual online for anyone that is interested:
Check IC955; that appears to be the voltage regulator for the USB section.

As for the fuse... I had no other choice (no decent merchants) and I only had about a week or so before going overseas. Hey.. it works Using the wick for the surface solder worked better than i though.
Domed not Doomed (not flat on top) a sign of failed or failing caps
As for fuse I cetainly never meant any offence

    Hello PolishPaul
In the last picture of the top row it looks as if there is clearly 2 domed caps on the p/supply board
You will need to put up a top down picture of that board for better help
As for the fuse I not saying nothing LOL

Welp, a bit late but... I finally got around to posting the pictures of my repair job when replacing the fuse. Its not the prettiest thing but it works. The pics don't show the electric tape which secures the wire wick.

The pics may not be in order... but should be able to help out someone trying to disassemble this thing

    Hi Guys

Well i have fianlly had 15 mins to test this. Two CCFL tubes are "down" my invert board is okay. Good news I think.

I am going to be in the US for a few weeks for work, any suggestions on where to buy the replacements?

Huge thanks for the all the help.

Test each tube with the inverter you have. A single tube in a set of 4 (or in your case, six) can shut down an inverter. If the tubes are shot, I might have a screen (broken) with good CCFLs. Let me see around here ......

That's almost like the one i use. I just replaced the output connectors with ones from a dead 700P monitor.

    Thanks Bobdee and Lucky13

I dont have a old panel to take ccfls from nor do I have another working VP201 to use to test. So I guess I am faced with a "mod kit" or buying a couple of replacement ccfls for my monitor.

What would you recommend at this stage.. the mod kit? If it is this option, what do I look for when I am purchasing, is there any voltage/current ranges etc?

    Many thanks yet again!

It will be 6 tubes in there not 6 pairs
Hold my hands up, never been in one with 6 tubes so I dont know how they are set out in there or paired off on the inverter (come back in lucky13 please)

When I look at the board (inverter) I have six transformers (chokes) forming six outputs. Is there a pair of ccfl per output?

VP201 is not known to have bad lamp.

Most of the time is the inverter board. YMMV.

Do what Bobdee suggest and swap in known good lamp(s).

I keep a good lamp (pair) ripped out from a cracked panel for testing. I swap in one light at a time to eliminate lamp problem quickly.

    Hello
It only takes one failing tube for the Inverter to be shut down

Several ways to check them, one is open up screen and visibly inspect and test (NOT recommended)
Connect another panel with B/lights known to be working
Some members use a comp case mod kit that can test CCFLs with inverter and test inverter with CCFLs (2 at a time)
And one or two have used spare working tubes
I think the best would be the mod kit

Doubt very much that they are all failing, probably one or a pair

Looking for help with a Viewsonic VP230mb where the backlight comes on only momentarily
    by lostone
Hello, I came here after finding some similar questions asked on other monitors and hope someone here can help me get an ancient Viewsonic VP230mp (23" 4:3 LCD) back to working condition.

First a little background, I have a background in computer and electrical engineering, and I'm smart enough to know I know nothing about LCD displays and how they work. For this topic I'm as green as they come.
When the display is turned on the viewsonic logo displays in the uppper left for 2 seconds then the screen goes black, the power LED is green (on) and when a computer is connected...

Vizio E55-E1 bad backlights or bad inverter?
    by x_orange90_x
I just got this tv today and it appeared to have no backlight on. After taking off the rear cover and checking again in the dark I can see that MAYBE one quadrant is lit.. But still it's quite dim. I was going to check the LEDs with my tester, and I found LED 1 and LED 2 + pins on the wire from the inverter, but I couldn't identify a ground. Nonetheless I tried using a mounting screw on the inverter board and also the chassis as ground but regardless my tester reads 300 which is what it reads when there is no voltage draw.

I don't know how exactly to test the inverter itself. Is it...

    APSINT3636VR 3600W APS INT Series 36V DC 230V AC Inverter/Charger schematic
    by Gentian
I have a tripp-lite aspint 3636vr inverter charger which blow some of mosfet transistors. I replaced them repaired also the driver circuit and tested but the mosfets burn again.

It work very well as inverter and also as charger if I let the rear switch in auto mode (inverter) and charger only(charging) but in auto when I connect the feed line 220V AC first time it pass ok to line and start charging the batteries but when I remove the feed line it pass to inverter mode and if I do it again the second time when passing from charging to inverter the Main transformer start making a...

Insignia NS-LCD19-09 (PS OK, Inverter problem?)
    by valvashon
For some reason I'm just not going to let this 19" TV defeat me. I guess because I have a schematic to work from I feel like I'm oh so close.

History- while adding a turn-on circuit I let a small screw roll under the power board. Worked through all of that circuitry, probably replacing a MOSFET and PWM controller that were not bad but I was following the service manual. Finally figured out that the power supply is in working order when the inverter section (for the backlights) is disconnected. When the +12 supply to the inverter is disconnected the +12 and +5 will come up...

A modified sine wave inverter + a grid tie inverter?
    by eccerr0r
If I had a solar fed grid tie inverter (GTI), a modified sine wave inverter, and a power outage occurred, what would happen if you disconnected mains, backfed the modified sinewave inverter (MSI) into house power, and hooked up the GTI to the output of the MSI, would it work?

Next thing is trying to charge the batteries using solar power, but that's another issue ...
