In the component view of Powerboard the bottom right corner is scorched below which is a smd Mosfet.Check that for shorts and voltage on all 3 legs.
When you press power switch does orange light switch off ?
Seems the smd mosfet and or 16pin chip below it could be defective. These components feed the LED backlight of the panel.

Did you check the capacitance and the ESR of those 4 caps to the right of the main yellow power transformer? if those caps are bad, it can cause over heat problem.
            Bad caps can look normal.
Also check the rectifier diode (I cannot read the designator of the Diode) that feeds the DC to those caps for the LED BACKLIGHTS Voltage booster circuit.

                      Re: benq gl2450 no power

You might want to read this thread, it's the large chip on the mainboard that is probably shorted.

                      https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=67285

If you want to confirm it, check the resistance on the mosfet I circled in the photo which is 3.3v in and 1.8V out...i was getting approx. 80 ohms. I replaced that big chip twice to find out that it was the mosfet on the power board providing the 5 volts to the mainboard that was the problem. After I changed that mosfet on the power board AND the big TSUM chip, monitor came back to life....I also installed a small video card fan inside the monitor as it has a tendency to heat up.

If confirmed, you can either get a new board but change the mosfet on the power board first.

In my tinkering, I came across a board that had the same board number as mine but different monitor model number but I bought it. I arrived after I had fixed the monitor but the monitor was still open so I tried it and lo and behold, it worked! Didn't need it anymore, so I put it up for sale on Ebay http://www.ebay.ca/itm/202291559401?...84.m1558.l2649

                        Sorry, in my previous post:

on the power board providing the 5 volts to the mainboard

                        should have read

on the power board providing the 3.3V to the mainboard.

                          Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                          Hello,

I have an HP 15-eh1070wm laptop that came to me for the same reasons I am starting this thread. The charging LED appears when the laptop power adapter is connected and the power LED appears when pressing the power button, but nothing appears on screen.

First thing I did was take off the bottom panel and remove the battery and then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds and then reinstall the battery and power on. The fan spins and this time, the back light illuminates and a brief message appears on the screen for about 1 second saying something along like,...

                          by joaquinmjuan
Hello, I have a Canon TS8350 printer. The problem is that when I turn it on, "CANON" appears on the screen, but it never goes away. You can leave it on for a whole day, and it doesn't go away. Does anyone know how to fix this? I've tried unplugging it, but nothing. I've also tried holding down POWER, but nothing. In fact, once it turns on, it can't be turned off with the Power button. I've also held down Power and then plugged it into the Power supply, and the power light flashes once and doesn't turn on, but then when I press Power again, it turns on. Currently, it's a nearly new paperweight,...

Panasonic Plasma TH-50PZ85U No screen No blinks on red power light
                          by Alicat
                          Hello,

Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

                          Model number is TH-50PZ85U

Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

I also hear a few clicks.

I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                          by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
