    Hazy display and blurry fonts

    Dell 2208 wfp
    1680 x 1050
    75Hz
    VGA

A little background; This monitor was suffering from the old 2 seconds to black issue. I opened it up and found a lot of cap issues and some diode problems as well. I was actually able to find a power supply on ebay for $22 so I bought it and that took care of the power issue immediately.

Now, when I turn the monitor on the screen has a slightly hazy look, and the font is quite blurred. I've gone through a lot of setup screens (contrast/brightness/hue/etc..) nothing really helps. I've also done the windows font adjustment thing, not sure that did anything. I have also tried 2 different VGA cables, no difference.

There are two pieces that are worth mentioning as they could be significant:
    1) The DVI input no longer works. Not sure why this would be.
    2) I might not have the CCFL power connections in the right spots.

Do the CCFL's care which power they're getting? I suppose it could matter (horizontal vs. vertical) but I would think not. I unfortunately did not mark these when I unplugged them. I have tried them in several configurations and don't notice any difference with them so I don't suspect that has anything to do with it.

When i first hooked it back up the picture was horrible so I figured I just didn't have the cable from the IF board to the LCD plugged in very well. And that was true, getting it better seated improved the image. Could that still be an issue?

    Any insight appreciated, thank!

it could be electrical noise getting into the analog section effecting any op-amps on the rgb input.

maybe more bad caps, but maybe feedback from the invertor if you connected it someplace unintended.

CCFL's are just proving backlights so you can see the graphic through the LCD panel, it is just the light source.
It looks to me more like the problem with main/scaler/logic board with bad caps as stj suggested. Or bad 5V from power supply. Try heating the main board caps with hairdryer to see if it has any affects.

Makes sense. I'll try warming the main boards with a hairdryer first. Then I'll pay a little closer attention to the caps on the logic board. I suppose fro $22 it could certainly still be an issue on the power supply.
