• Help identify components from blurry FCC photos?

The first photo is of my sample device which lacks the two components that I wish to identify.

The second (very blurry) photo is of the same model device submitted to the FCC, which does contain the two components I wish to identify.

The board for the device is configured for a USB 2.0 A port, but the port is not installed at the factory. But it does work if installed.

However, the power pin does not supply voltage because the two components in question are not installed in produced units.

One of the two components (6C6) is obviously a...

• Re: Acer AL2017 w/blown EA1532A

I replaced the power supply board and now my Acer AL-2017A is up and running again.

Even though there wasn't much response to this thread, I used over a dozen old (and very long) threads on this forum that were very helpful. It's great that all of those old threads are available and accessible.

I don't know what I'd do if CCFL backlit computer displays become totally unavailable and unrepairable. While my AL-2107A was down, I tried over half a dozen LED backlit displays, and I just can't tolerate them - no matter how they...

• Re: Acer AL2017 w/blown EA1532A

Well, I'm about to try the DAC-19M002 power supply board in my Acer AL-2017A. Wish me luck. I will report the results.

Also, I mentioned in the first post to this thread that the EA1532A had blown up on my original board.

It turns out that it was not a EA1532A on my original board, but a DAP8A.

I could only see the tailing "A" on the original part because the rest of the part was blown up. Based on reading old threads here, it seemed that is was a EA1532A.

I understand that a DAP8A...

• Re: Acer AL2017 w/blown EA1532A

I ordered an entire used replacement DAC-19M005 board from a chinese seller on ebay.

The first image is the exact image from the seller's ebay listing, which is the DAC-19M005, the same model as my failed board.

The second image is what the seller sent, a DAC-19M002.

The boards are relatively similar, although on the 002 board the lamp sockets are placed differently compared to the 005 board.

The 002 board almost looks like a two lamp board, because two of the sockets are so far away from...

• Old but unused Dell Monitor

I just broke the factory seal on a Dell (Philips) monitor that was manufactured in July of 2010.

I decided to check the power supply board (see image) before I even powered up the monitor for the first time.

The following is a list of the electrolytic capacitors. Are any of these more urgent than the others to replace?

C605
Lelon A207(M)
120uF 450v

C501, C503, C505
FDAI
220uF 10v

C521, C522, C855
Elite
220uF 25v

C606
Lelon
A032(M)
33uF 50v

• Re: Viewsonic VG2230wm CCFL to LED conversion

Did the lamp(s) burn out in VG2230wm, or are you just doing this for fun?

I'm highly sensitive to LED backlighting, even on the highest quality monitors or ones with various "eye care" features. No matter how optimally they are adjusted or calibrated.

I'm always on the lookout for new (old stock) ccfl monitors, just so I'll have some spares for whatever the remainder of my lifespan is.

So, I just can't imagine converting a monitor to LED backlighting.

If it wasn't...

• Re: Acer AL2017 w/blown EA1532A

I found and ordered (on ebay) a working monitor that uses the same power supply for dirt cheap. The screen is in bad shape, but I just intend to take the power supply out of it.

I still intend to rebuild the original power supply once the EA1532A parts get here from china in a few weeks or so. I will post an update once I have installed the new parts in the original supply.

Thanks to all for the help.

• Re: Acer AL2017 w/blown EA1532A

Thanks very much, very helpful!

Do you happen to know which other variants of this delta power supply are functionally equivalent to the DAC-19M005? Based on some claims in listings for used boards on ebay, it seems that the DAC-19M008, DAC-19M009, DAC-19M010, and maybe the DAC-19M003 might be drop in replacements?

• Acer AL2017 w/blown EA1532A

The EA1532A in my much beloved Acer AL2017 just blew up but good. Yes, I have been using this monitor for 14 years.

Some resistors close to the EA1532A look like they may have bought it too; see photo. Should I just replace all of the smd components in the primary section? I will be waiting a while for the EA1532A parts to get here.

The primary cap has some crust on the positive lead (see other photo). Could failure of the primary cap be what killed the EA1532A?

I've read all of the prior old threads about the EA1532A and this Delta DAC-19M005, so most...

• Starcap battery-cap replacement?

I'm looking to confirm the type of a capacitor, if it is indeed a capacitor.

This Starcap "battery-cap" thing looks like a button battery but is labeled with what appear to be capacitor values.

It has leaked some crusty stuff out along the edge. I cleaned it up with some rubbing alcohol but some of the crust can still be seen along the edge in the top right of the photo.

It is in a consumer electronics device that has been in use for 9 years.

It is labeled;
Starcap
0.22F (note, not "uF")

• Re: Samsung UE32h4510 no picture (Dead IC on buffer)

Some of the listings for the 5562A on Ali seem to indicate that the CM501 is an equivalent replacement. I couldn't find a datasheet for the CM501, but some guy is waving one around a few minutes into this video;

• Re: Samsung PN50B650S1F clicks on plug-in with flashing voltages

Check the two coils near the power connector on the main board for 3.3v.

Something like (but also quite different from) done in this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wawf68FPv9A
or: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuijG2RvfJ4

There are other common main board problems that cause flashing led on '09 era samsung plasmas (when the power supply is good), but I've forgotten them. I think one of them involves the sound ic or some other small ic....

I don't know. Most of your recent test values seem okay except for the 340V.

• Re: DC blocking caps + ? in sata data lines?

I installed the caps in the Lxx locations, because the pads are bigger there. Then I jumped the Cxxx locations instead of installing inductors. Finally, I installed the e-sata jack. It is a little messy, but it works. See attached photo.

The lack of EMC filtering and ESD protection are the sort of things that keep me up at night, but I've never seen those circuits included in other like realtek media players.

This media player has been sitting "new" in a sealed box since 2009-2010. There are some...

• Re: DC blocking caps + ? in sata data lines?

I just checked C204,206,208,210 with a microscope. They are in series with the sata data lines. They don't have one side going to ground like C213, 214, 217, 218 do on the two usb port data lines. I will try to take a picture with a macro lens. My plan is to install the usual value dc blocking cap in those locations.

Thanks for the information about L23,25. Looking at the linked photo of the entire board, the HDMI jack has resistors installed in the locations L16,17,18, 19.

So, I guess for the HDMI...

• DC blocking caps + ? in sata data lines?

I have a vintage (2010) Zinwell ZIN-5005HD media player to which I'd like to add sata port(s). The player is based on the Realtek RTD1073DD which supports up to two sata ports, and the Zinwell board is configured and silkscreened for these two ports, but they are not installed. See attachment photo.

I've installed sata ports in other Realtek-based media players before, but in those cases all that was required was 4 dc blocking caps and the sata jack. The Zinwell board has locations for the 4 dc blocking caps (C204, C206, C208 & C210), but it also has silkscreening for either...

• Re: Favorite recapping methods

If I anticipate a motherboard hole is going to be difficult to clear, I'll break the cap on the component side and cut the leads flush with the board on the component side.

Then I'll use small fine tip pliers along with my soldering iron to pull the soldered lead out through the non-component side. This way, no solder is dragged up through the hole towards the component side - instead, the solder is actually dragged along with the lead as it exits on the non-component side. I often find that there is little solder in the hole towards the...
