    Hanns G HG281D Monitor Problems

As the title says I'm having trouble with my Hanns G HG281D monitor. The monitor will display picture but it takes some time. With the monitor on and my computer on the light will go from orange to blue and stay blue when it has signal. After about 10 mins with signal (black screen the whole time) the picture will blink in for a split second then go black for a while and continue to do this for 5-10 min until the picture stays. Once the picture stays, the monitor is just fine (picture quality). After picture is on, every 30 min the monitor will flash black then back to the picture.

I just replaced all the caps on the power supply board (none looked bad but better be safe on this board) and it looked to work at first glance but instantly went back to doing the blinking. Also after i changed the caps the buttons to control the interface do not work. I may have pulled one of the wires so ill check that.

My question is does this sound like a problem that can be fixed with changing the caps on the logic board? Also if I didn't pull a wire what could be bad with the buttons? Any input would be really appreciated.

I had this same problem and was able to find a post buried on this forum that helped me fix the problem. I thought I would post my findings and hopefully it will help others with this same issue.

My HG281D monitor would turn on and then blink and flash the image for about 10 minutes and then finally start working fine. I would occasionally see the amber light or artifacts on-screen during this warm-up phase, but after the monitor warmed-up, there would be no issues until I turned it off again.

The problem is not on the power board.

The problem was bad capacitors on the interface or main board. This is the board that has the HDMI and VGA sockets. I replaced all of the 100uf capacitors on this board and the monitor is now working perfectly.

I posted an image of the board. The capacitors I replaced are labeled 1-5 in purple. The capacitors can be bought from anywhere, but I purchased these on ebay as a "HG28D1 main board repair kit". I'm certainly no expert when it comes to soldering. The final product was a little sloppy to say the least, but it works! I hope this helps.

You need to replace C80, 83 (100UF 16V) on the main board.
