Hi all, so around my office we have a few of these dell e152s which are fairly old and now dying. One with 2 seconds to black and one with no power at all. I am fairly certain the caps have gone bad as you will see in the photos. On the one that will not power on, the fuse is blackened. Do I just unsolder that the same as the caps to replace?

Re: Dell e152fpc
When fuse is blown and has blackened inside, it was exposed too very high current. So you need to at least check the bridge rectifier and the MOSFET that drives the power trnasformer to see if they are shorted out or not.Never stop learning

Re: Dell e152fpc
Partly good news! I did not remember to bring my multi-meter with me, but I recapped one of the other dead screens and it appears to have been a success! I used Rubycon caps, the 16v1000uf's seemed a bit taller than the old ones but they fit just fine. Have only had it on for a short while but it has not gone black yet!
Thanks for the help so far!Comment

Re: Dell e152fpc
Ugh the next one is a different revision it appears once I got it apart. Totally different boards. This one has a much larger powerboard that was directly connected to video board through some pins. Also some new components to me.
This display would constantly cycle it's screen on and off. The caps look ok to me but I am no expert and one does seem taller than the others of same type. I figure recap it and see how it takes it?Comment

Re: Dell e152fpc
Check the resistance reading of that fuse PF751, it should be less than one Ohm, this fuse when it is bad, the resistance will be > 5 Ohms.
Also re-solder all the joints on the transformers' pins, transistors, etc. Check those transistors next to the grey tuning caps in the inverter section.

by BowlineMy question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?
Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?
My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell... -
by corrizeHello, I disassembled this dead camera, and found this WTF… Two fuses soldered one above the other !
I was pretty sure nobody touched it before, but that can't be from factory. There is flux, and capacitor is probably missing.
The other weird thing : the fuses are « G » fuse : (0.75A – 8V), seems very low. The original fuse should be « O » : (32V 2,5A).
There is « O » mark beside. All fuses have the same mark letter on main board. So, I can deduce it's a « O » fuse.
And this correspond to the issus I saw : when I plug the battery, I measure the voltage dropping... -
by F R 2568Hello all,
this is my first post, so if I make mistakes please do not hesitate to point them out, thank you in advance.
I got a Dell Latitude 5420 (Service Tag: 7RFM6D3, Motherboard: GDF40 LA-491P Rev.: 2.0 (A01)) which does not start and I want to repair it. These are the symptoms:
If the laptop is only connected to the AC adapter (battery removed):
When I press the power button, the keyboard backlight and the display backlight are turning on. Caps key light is lightning, but key does not respond to pressing it.
The power/battery... -
by diamonI have a Dell Latitude 5530 with a damaged RJ45 network connector. See the attached pictures.
Have already searched on Farnell / Aliexpress / Ebay and had contact with several suppliers on Aliexpress and Ebay, but they cannot deliver this connector.
Is there someone inside the EU, who has these connector(s) or perhaps defective motherboard(s) for these laptop models I have mentioned in the topic title.

by lalle-Hello!
I have a problem with a Dell G5 SE 5505 laptop that I hope someone can give me a few pointers on.
[OK, it's not really a laptop, I'm running the motherboard on my desktop with only cooling, RAM and an M2 drive attached.]
I had some performance issues, so I decided to update my BIOS from 1.7.0 to the latest version, 1.20.0.
The computer restarted and the update dit not want to continue without a battery connected, even though I used dell's method of bypassing this requirement.
I tried updating to a custom BIOS from Reddit user Satori_Nori https://www... - Loading...
