    LG W2061TQV Disassembly?

I have this LG monitor model # W2061TQV and I cant figure out how to take it apart. I am thinking that it is just held together by clips because I cant find any screws. Anyone have any suggestions?

The monitor turns on, displays the LG logo and will briefly show a picture then turn black. If I mess with the bottom right corner of the bezel, it will turn back on for a few seconds and then turn right back off.

Edit: I figured it out. I was on Fixya, (i know, i know) and it showed a picture from a service manual of another LG monitor where you just pull on the bezel inside of the front of the screen.

Re: LG W2061TQV Turns off after a few seconds

A couple of pictures of the power board with its Su'scon capacitors.

Measuring the transformer EEL-22D in circuit, with 1-2 pins being on the very bottom of the picture and 7&8 being on the very top, I get:

    1&2: .987k ohms
    7&8: .986k ohms

Nothing on the board really jumps out at me as being obviously faulty, like none of the capacitors are bulging from the top.

        Make two test lamps:
        https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=19987
You can solder the wires to the lamp connectors on the bottom side of the board.

Nocta: I have been lurking on the forums and learning quite a bit. I am a bit of a novice with component level testing, I am good at soldering and desoldering capacitors but most of the other stuff is greek to me. I will definitely read through that guide.

Budm: Thats really nifty, I will try to make one of those tomorrow.

To me that suggests the wiring on the bottom lamps. Can you check it.

When the panel goes black does the power light stay lit?

If it does, with a pc connected and on, can you see a very dark picture of what would be on the screen - sometimes shining a flashlight at different angles helps.

Selldoor: When the panel goes black, the power button is still lit and when I shine a flashlight on it I can still see the windows logo and the login screen. Right behind the bezel there on the right side is a little circuit board with the LEDs for the power light and the power switch is just right above it.

I saw your thread on an LG and I was hoping it was just a transformer.

Ok - Unfortunately I dont think it can be the transformer as your test seems ok - right sort of level of ohms and within 3% of each other.

Maybe when "messing" you have just switched the power off and on. Though still inspect the wiring.
Another "quick" test - if the leads are long enough try and swap the leads for the top lamps with the bottom ones. ( Top lamps seem to wear out quicker due to being hotter)

I tried to take the screen apart to peak at the lamps but its not fun. Its a Chei Mei M200O1-L01 screen. I removed the metal frame around the LCD panel, and even separated the glass from the main part of the LCD. I still dont see where the CCFLs go. I know there are 4 in there from their data sheet.

May mess with it tomorrow, going to take a break.

ok - perhaps try and construct Budms test lamp and swapping the leads then
                    report back as and when.

I found a video on youtube showing a dissection of an LCD screen very similar to this one. I took it down to @1:10 then decided not to dissect it any further because the sheets were starting to move.

Is this guy totally destroying this thing or is this sometimes what is needed to get to the CCFLs?

Today I said what the hell and took it all the way apart.

The top 2 CCFLs are one unit, and blackened on both ends but not burnt. Bottom 2 CCFLs are also blackened and the white wire was disintegrating at the end of the rubber end piece.

I tried to pull the ends off but the CCFLs were so brittle in that area they just broke on me. The other end came off fine.

Thanks for the info, I am looking at prices on CCFL replacements right now. May build 2 of those testers budm talked about to see if I can get the lamps to stay on.

I don't mean to drag up an old thread like this, but it was the *only* one I could find for the LG W2061TQV.

I have one with bad caps on its power supply board, and stupidly I looked at one of them, then removed the bad ones (they're all physically the same size, so I just assumed they were all the same). The problem? Three of them were 1000uf @ 16v and one was 470uf at 35v, and since I wasn't paying attention (I've never had this issue with any other monitors I've repaired), I don't know what locations they were in.

The bits I removed were C203, C204, C205, and C212,. Does anyone know which values each had?

                              THANKS!

OK, I traced out the connections:
D201, D205 are connected in parallel to provide +22V for the inverter circuits, there are 3 caps all connected in parallel: C203, C207, and C301 which should be 35V rating caps for the +22V power supply section.
D210 (Dual Diode TO220 case) is the rectifier for the +5V power supply, there are 3 caps all connected in parallel (they do not even use Pi filter, the inductor L202 is bypassed by the jumper J202): the caps are C204, C205, and C212, they can be 10V~16V cap rating.
