    Dell E153FPf Power Issues

The PFC never comes up on this one. the back light is dimly lit and you can turn it on off with power button. The voltage on C845 never gets over 160 volts DC.
Im pretty sure that when power supply is on I should meter around 400 volts DC.

ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED THANKS.

What happened at C504 - there is a very thin line trace goes under it looks like one end is
on that large connector in top right corner - where does the other end go and is it conductive.

There is no PFC circuits in this old 15" Dell. The main filter shoucl have about 165~170vdc.
@selldoor, where do you see the C504? You must be using you super PC magnifier again!

Looking at the front of the board its the top one on the right - the damage is on the back
          of the board.
@budm - I enlarge the pics by clicking then when they are as big as they will go I use
ctrl and + keys to blow till it blurs

OK, I zoomed real close and see it now, thanks.
The two traces on the top connector to the LCD panel with C504 positive leg conected to them are tied together and it also goes to the Collector of Q501, the Emiter of Q501 is connected to the Output center pin of the U801 (Adjustable regulator). I believe Q501 is the switch for VCC for the LCD panel T-CON board.

@high-tech: What DC voltage do you have at this cap without turn on the monitor?

@budm - I really meant the thin line trace that goes between the legs of the cap I have dotted it in on the attached.

hey guys, hoping for some pointers to repair an eBay bought "faulty" laptop.

Ill try and give as much info as I can.

                    Dell Inspiron 17 (7786) Laptop
                    Service Tag: 5J0NHT2
                    Bios: 1.9.0

When I received this , it would only flicker on the KB backlight for a second, then off and on.
                    Then it started getting weirder!
Sometimes when attaching the AC power supply, and pressing various pre-boot diagnostic keyboard keys... it did try to boot, in fact out of a hundred attempts, the laptop did actually boot into the Bios ! but never has...

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
                    by PantherDave
                    Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. πŸ˜…

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                    Dell 7280 Power Issues (LA-E122P)
                    by reid
Hi, this is my first new thread and I am hoping to get some assistance troubleshooting a Dell Latitude 7280 (LA-E122P). I have fixed a few MacBook logic boards before, but I'm not familiar with Dell boards or schematics, so I don't really know what things are important to know or check first.

When I first got the laptop, it would not turn on. I'd plug it in and press the power button, the power LED would come on for a second and then turn off and the laptop wouldn't do anything. This was fixed by flashing the UC5 EEPROM, so I don't think there was any hardware issues when I first...

Dell Optiplex 7490 AIO - red power led after flash

                    Hi guys,

This is my first post! πŸš€
I have no idea what I’m doing, but I’m learning by trial and error.

I’m currently working on a Dell Optiplex AIO 7490β€”one of a bunch of AIOs that mysteriously failed to POST just a few days after the warranty expired. The original issue was that the PC worked fine until it was rebooted, after which it got stuck on a black screen (no backlight), with fans spinning at normal speed and a solid white power LED. Forcing it off by holding the power button would just cause it to switch on automatically and get stuck again on...

                    Dell XPS 15 7590 - Part 2 - USB power issues
                    by coputerdiscount
So back on my first post I had a water damaged Dell XPS 7590 which I was able to repair:
Dell XPS 15 7590 - Powers via USB-C but not AC (missing PS_ID?) - Badcaps

Which leans me into a new problem I wanted to start a new thread with.

This machine now has issues powering or taking power (usb-c/lightning) via its USB ports.

Symptoms: When a dock is attached, it tends to short out devices attached and does not function, when using a USB A port elsewhere on the laptop, they notify windows of a surge and tend to power cycle the attached device.
