    Dell e173FPF Caps?

    Hello All,

I recently acquired a Dell e173FPf. Board number 790271200800 (4 lamp connections). It appears that someone hacked they're way into it and then did a half-ass repair! I've seen other posts about this monitor and board but no really good photos of this board. Does anyone out there have one of these boards and can tell me ALL the cap numbers with there proper uf and voltage? It would be awesome if ya do. That way I could double check and see if the right caps are in there correct place and values.

    Thanks Again,

      Hello Mr. Rtech,

Thanks for your help once again! Your list revealed some errors that the previous HACK had made. Just have to test the SMD transistors now. You wouldn't happen to have a list of all of them and there values? If not maybe one of the other fellas on this site might. My 2.4mm X 348mm CCFLs came today so maybe I can get some of the other "e" 17" Dells up and running finally.

      Happy New Year To All,

I am jumping into this post with a problem. My monitor died, no backlight but you can still see the image on the screen and I have the exact same board and looking at my caps C869 is 470uf but not 25v, it is 16v. Could this be the source of my problem?

        Thanks

Please post a clear focused picture of your board using the manage attachments feature. Do not post inline.

It is not uncommon for manufacturers to make revisions on the board and keep the same model number.

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

It shouldn't be, the voltage on the capacitors is close enough where it shouldn't make a difference. With that being said, the capacitor still could be bad. Check to see if it's bulging at all.

                FIXED!!!

I replaced the caps at C6 and C26 and now it works...they didn't look bad but found info in another post.

                Thanks!

Congrats on your fix! That's the tricky thing with capacitors, even though they look fine, they could be dry inside. That's why I'm tempted to save up and get one of those meters where you can check them while they're still intacted on the board.

Just wanted to add that I fixed one of these displays by reseating the MPU chip in it's socket. The chip can be pushed down too far. There is a plastic spacer in the bottom of the socket to prevent this but it may be too thin. Hope this helps someone.

My Dell e173FPf with a similar problem, the capacitors looks just fine, is there a way i can determine if they are dry inside?

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
                          by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

I know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.

For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

when i press the power, fan goes full speed, power button lights up , and caps lock light is on, the screen polarises, goes dark,no backlight...All voltages present, except PL4701, but that's probably for GPU power later....

I've tried a few dumps from posts, it always acts the same, so i thin it's not a bios issue...

No shorts found on the board...

                          What should i try next?

                          Hello,

First, I am a complete noob with high voltage stuff. I'm learning, but I need help by someone looking over my shoulder.

I recently came into posession of a Heathkit IO-4205 5MHz Dual Trace Oscilloscope. The documentation is copyright 1978. I'm told it works.

I opened it up to check the caps before I applied power, and found the following black caps and wanted to know what they were. They are on the power supply board. I was able to read the name and model and came up with, "Nytronics 162J-1, 0.1uF, 20% tolerance, 2000VDC."
                          ...

                          Hi,

Could someone help trying to unlock this BIOS, seems that Dell have changed the layout of new Dell Pro 8FC8 bioses from checking HXD - 4000 bits do not need changing, only 2000. However after FF the section starting from '01000' upto 2000 bits and then soldering the chip back it seems that the microchip on the motherboard is recovering the bios back to original settings after first boot. Has anyone found a way to crack this extra layer of security Dell have implemented? Seems both HP and Dell have upped bios security to match Lenovo by implementing extra measures on a separate...
