And I might have a TIP31A, is that alright to put in, or should I order a better part?

Re: Yamaha CR-620 | POP! And no sound...
Caps and transistors look alright, when I disconnect a portion of it I get all the right voltages coming out, but as soon as I reconnect, I lose about half the voltages.

Greetings fellow newbie!
Have you looked at the other threads that are similar to your monitor?

Yamaha CR-620 | POP! And no sound...
Picked this amp up for free off craigslist and they said they heard a pop and now the whole control was dead. I did some tracing and came to this part and then the trail ended there, so I think this is the problem maker. The part is so old that I can't find much about it. HELP!...

Need to buy "Electric Vacuum Desoldering Gun"
Greetings all.
I have about 4, yes 4 free LG plasma TVs that are apparently suffering from the IPM chip failure. Since I got them free, I figured that replacing them and then selling the TVs would be worth while. Plus not to mention of all the repairs I do, it would be a handy thing to have.
Basically this is is what I'll be doing... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8MNQYXw8E0
Any recommendations on what to buy? I was first looking into Kakko's desoldering guns, since I really liked the soldering gun I got, but I saw the price and felt...

Re: Hanns-G HG281D, LCD Monitor no power
Anyone have the values for C301, C302, and C401? My father removed them and threw out the caps thinking they were all the same value, but didn't have the caps in stock, so.. ya.. no clue what's suppose to go there...

Re: Sony PFM-42X1 - Doesn't Turn On
Eh... it's REALLY bad... and I think I don't have full control over the TV. When I go into the menu I can't select some things.... I'll look into it more once I get the board out and see if I notice anything weird.

Re: Sony PFM-42X1 - Doesn't Turn On
So I pulled the fuses from another TV and it works! But the YSUS board is still making an awful buzzing sound... Any thoughts?

Re: Sony PFM-42X1 - Doesn't Turn On
Values are all good, and thankfully Sony did a nice job labeling the voltages, so it was easy to verify everything, but I did come across a bad fuse on the Z-Board, so those have been ordered and will be here in a couple days.

Re: Sony PFM-42X1 - Doesn't Turn On
When I unplugged the board on the left (Y board?) it did the same thing as before. But when I uplugged the board on the right, the power supply did more clicking than normal. And eventually the power button became non-responsive.Last edited by Ritalin; 05-01-2013, 11:10 AM.

Re: Sony PFM-42X1 - Doesn't Turn On
Just a visual inspection, I don't see anything wrong. They are even Rubycon caps. But with that many so close, I'm sure it got hot in there and they're dried out.

Sony PFM-42X1 - Doesn't Turn On
Greetings All!
I'm debating if I want to tackle this TV or not. As soon as I opened it up I nearly'ed. I've never seen so many caps on a power supply in my life. And since it's more of a 'display' monitor and not so much TV, I don't know what the market for this type would be like.
When you press the power button, you hear the famous 'click' but nothing comes on the screen (it doesn't even light up). And I hear a buzzing sound out of the board on the right and there's a small fan on the board on the left, and that doesn't even turn on. So maybe power supply...

Re: Dell U2312HM
I'm still rocking a one of my 19" refurbs as I sell the 'good' stuff to keep building up a fund for a new IPS monitor. And this one came along for $60/shipped and I figured, if I can fix an IPS monitor, I can use it for something else....

Re: Dell U2312HM
The listing was from last year. And since they sold it 'as/is' it was my responsibility to ask questions. But the screen had some scuff marks on it that I couldn't see from the picture even though it wasn't listed as that it had scuff markings.

Dell U2312HM
So I actually paid for this monitor cause I was hoping it'd work, but then the person that sent it lied about the condition and ebay says too bad so sad... So now I'm stuck with it or resell it.
Originally it didn't turn on at all, replaced all the caps on the power supply, and now it turns on but you see vertical lines across it and after a little bit the lines go away and is a solid color. So then I start pressing buttons and nothing pops up. Once in a great while, the lower have pops through and can see the menu.
No clue....

Re: 52" Toshiba Regza - 52Rv53u - Half Side Issue
Thanks Tom.
I've been thinking of starting to grab bad panel TVs for "cheap" again, around the $20 price range if possible and then selling the boards. My aunt works for a garbage company and can scrap out the rest for me for a discount/free.
