Fisher RS-1056: No Longer Powering Up

    Hello!

Went into my Fisher RS-1056 stereo receiver to troubleshoot the damaged meter...

annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd in the process while the unit was powered up(trying to move meter cover to get at actual meter wires) I touched the cover to one of the transistor's heatsinks. Unit shut down. Took cover off. Unit restarted. Touched cover back. Unit shut down. Repeated said process 1 more time(trying to figure out what's going on) and all of a sudden the unit dies and will not restart. Main transformer is good. On the main power board, there is the proper voltage on all pins EXCEPT for pins 3, 4, and 5. Tuner is totally dead. No voltage leading to resistor R01. Ditto for resistors R04 and R05. All fuses are good and the audio transistors are getting power.

    I'm stumped. Please help.

    Thanks.

can you post some pics of the unit, PSBs, point the parts which touched, the pins that do not read good... etc. .. not everyone is familiar with that particular unit and the schematics need time which not everyone is willing to invest, but the visual aid will work for most people familiar with electrocics

Re: Fisher RS-1056: No Longer Powering Up

first check all fuses ...if any blown report back before replacing any .
if all fuses test good with a multi-meter carefully get all power supply voltages . report back with a list of readings .
        example ..
        pin 1 ..12.41v ...
if negative voltage is read then write like this -21.1v
use chassis as ground for black meter probe .

        edit ......
ok i bothered to read the first post ..
get ac voltages at pins 1 and 2 .. power supply .

..i bet you shorted a regulated transistor and blew one of those 1 amp fuses or burned a trace on the board . may have also blown a transistor or 2 .

if dont see any ac voltages at pins 1 and 2 . check voltages transformer side of the fuses that feed pins 1 and 2 . ..if no voltages then turn power off and ohm out that winding on transformer .

ok... popped the fuses. now to find some 1A fuses.

make sure the regulator transistor isnt shorted first ..q1 .
also test the zener diode d05 .
might be ok because if i am right you shorted q1 collector to ground and the fuses caught the main strike .

I somehow shorted pins 3 and 4 or 4 and 5 together. That must have been what killed the fuses.

deffo test that transistor then .. if it shorted c to e and you power it up the circuits it supplies will see 19v instead of 12 ...

Nope. Fisher makes it dang near impossible to check the diodes on that PSU board.

You can test the diode on that power supply board without removing them for now.

Yesterday I successfully repaired a Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP that had inadvertently been used as a surge suppressor at our transmitter site. It has already been replaced with an updated one but it's coming home with me now instead of being e-cycled. To be specific, this is the MA model that has the blue backlit display and has been discontinued, although this design may have been used in many UPS units including the smaller Middle Atlantic ones in this series.

Here's what happened: We experienced a brownout/surge at the site, which damaged the UPS and took our broadcasting...

Repair of an LG split AC system indoor unit PCB
                              by ngml
I am trying to repair an LG split AC indoor unit, which does not start and gives a CH05 error code.
This indicates an error in the communication between the outdoor and the indoor unit.
The outdoor unit is fine, so the problem is the indoor PCB.
The indoor unit is an LG PC09SQ NSJ (3SNM09JA2FA), and the PCB has the following type number: EAX35907219-1.2 (see photo1)
I changed optocouplers ICO1X & ICO2X and the NPN transistor S9013 which drives optocoupler ICO2X (see photo2), but this did not remedy the fault.

Does anybody have the schematics of this board,...

Back in 2020 i bought a (2nd hand) compact ATX psu to replace my current one. My PC case only fits very short ATX power supplies so i didn't really have the choice of buying a decent 80Plus unit. The current unit is a modded YoungYear unit that i made a thread about a while ago:
A "nice" YoungYear unit? - Badcaps

The "new" unit is a KDM-M6480 480W psu, the 480W number is a typical KDM bullshit claim of course, but the 24A rating on the 12V rail seemed reasonable and the "Active PFC" claim gave me a bit of hope that this was going to be decent-ish....

                              Hello, all.

                              Cyberpower Battery Backup Unit.

I bought two new ML18-12 batteries through Amazon (They have already refunded my money for the two batteries as we thought the batteries might have been bad.)
When I got them in, they were not fully charged. I connected them to the UPS and waited 24 hours before connecting any networking equipment.
In parallel, they read 24v, but within 24 hours, the meter on the front of the unit dropped from 4 to 3 bars on the battery charge indicator.
Checking the voltage, it was down to 22v.
                              I quickly removed everything...

                              Hello Everyone,

I am working on a Samsung MX-JS9500 Giga Party Stereo System. I am specifically insearch of the Main Board Schematics.

                              The Problem:
The unit is not powering up the Bluetooth or CD player. The rest of the unit acts like everything is working fine. When you press the bluetooth button the unit says "please wait" while it tries to start the bluetooth but it never starts. The same thing happens with the CD player. There is no response it will not open the tray or close it. It just says "Loading."

                              My suspicion...
