Hdmi problems could be related to known problems with drying electrolytics in the x06 series of Onkyo receivers. I'd doubt it has anything to do with distorted sound though.

This one is really tough for you. You might think about getting a portable oscilloscope.
I got one from amazon about $110. It is only 2 MHz but helped me to fix audio issue (only pure direct working) on one of my receivers.
          Just search for sainsmart.

How about sound from analog inputs like CD or tuner?
Do you get on screen menu?

There is no corrosion on the board?

ok I have good sound on the radio, and I have sound on the hdmi outputs. but I don't have video, if I press on the board a little video comes through but it is streaky, various colors, or if I tap on the back metal plate, aka ground it does the same thing. I cleaned the metal where the hdmi plugs contact the back plane. no difference. broken copper trace.?????? I really looked the board over to make sure I didn't overlap some solder somewhere.the sound doesn't change when I press on the board or tap the ground plane. any thoughs on what to look for ? I assume the problem is in the hdmi output to the tv.

Do you have the 5v on pin 18 on all hdmi chips?
Also you can check with with oscilloscope DCC data and clock.
Dont forget to check the 4 resistor in all the hdmi chips.
The have test points on pcb.
All the outputs share the same ground so look also for that.
Most like it is that the switch dont feed them right.

Try HDMI pass thru option to see if you have video and we will go from there.

If you have no video on pass thru, you need to check Q8162, Q8501 and Q8401.
Q8162 and Q8501 are multiplexer (input selector switch) and Q8401 is output for HDMI ports.
Since you don't have scope, let check power supply for each chip first, then clock and data.

ok I have 1.8 and 3.3 volts on each chip. ok if I put the receiver in setup mode and if I press down on the genesis chip which I guess is the video chip, the setup mode comes on, I can read it, but it has streaks through it. I think the problem is the video out, not the input.

The caps you need to replace are the 100uf surface mount ones, especially the ones across the voltage regulators. Others can also be bad as well like the 22uf's. The eeprom chip has a bad habit of wiping itself when the caps dry up causing no OSD but seems you still have.

Double check your work on the caps you already replaced.

Your dc supplies may look good because your dmm won't capture the ripple. Make sure to focus on the bottom of the board as well.

There is lots of info out there on this if you google "onkyo hdmi switching headaches" for instance. Main thread will come up regarding the 606 and others but applies here.

All the caps were changed but the very small ones. I have checked my work three times for correct placement of caps.

I replaced all the 100x4v caps and the 220x4v caps, but I still don't have any audio. hdmi or radio. the first board had good audio but no video . this one is just the opposite. is there anything else I can change to maybe get audio?

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                            Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

                                            Sony xbr-65x900c main board issues?
                                            by jb_Bak
Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
Power Board Connector that goes to Main board
                                            CN6401
                                            Pin 01 NC
                                            Pin 02 NC
                                            Pin 03 "BL_ON": 0V
                                            Pin 04 "N/C"
                                            Pin 05 "STBY 3.3V": 3.5V
                                            Pin 06 "GND": N/C
                                            Pin 07 "AC_OFF"...

Panasonic TC-P54VT25 No image. A or D board?
                                            by canadaboy25
I have a Panasonic TC-P54VT25 that will power on and prime the display but there is no image at all.

The panel is primed as there is a slight glow from the entire panel. This means the problem should be logic related. The service manual also confirms this and recommends replacing the A or the D board.

I have tried to get the TV to display the test sequence but I have been unable to and I don't even know if this TV has a test sequence or not. I tried following tom66's instructions in post #3 on this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26790. There was...
