[Wine Fridge] How to replace multiplexed 7-segment displays

    Dear all,

I try to repair a wine fridge (for fun reason) where the control board contains 2 7-segment displays with shorted circuits. Without them the control board doesn't work correctly and I can't control the fridge.

These 2 digits 7-segment displays are special because they have only 8 pins. After some Internet browsing I found that they may be produced by a chinese firm. On their website I found the schematic of the multiplexing they used and was able to confirm it with my multi-meter. Unfortunately the price is too dissuasive to buy only two units from them.

Does someone has any idea how I can replace them with some more traditional components? Otherwise I'll drop the fridge in my dustbin

    Thank you for your help.

if your looking for fun, why not make your own display with 14 small rectangular led's and 2 small round led's and some stripboard?

or a microcontroller and a regular 2 digit display or lcd panel?

Unfortunately that LED looks custom and the "fun" work suggested by stj are your only options. Main problem being is that most 7-seg displays have only one common pin and yours have two common pins. Or if you want, you could hack up a light pipe doo-hickey with four standard 7-seg displays and use the segments of two 7-seg displays for each...

Thank you guys. I wasn't aware of rectangular LED and now I think this is a very good idea

I need to order some parts and try to design a replacement part.

        I'll keep you posted.

Haier HVTB18DABB Wine fridge thermoelectric board - bad caps?
          by Jneub007
Hi! Hope you can lend me some advice.
I am attempting to repair a Haier HVTB18DABB thermoelectric wine fridge. Both fans work, but the temps are not changing in the dual zones. Upon inspection, I believe this cap (pictured) and possibly another may be the culprits - based on the base of the caps and what looks to be dried dark liquid at the base. Assuming that is abnormal?

Do you agree and which product do you suggest replacing with?

Very much appreciated! Let me know if more info needed. ...

Need help with a wine fridge controller board.

          Model: Frigidaire FFWC18L2QB
          Board: FX101B PCB16006F1 110 HANYI

This fridge was turning on, but wouldn't cool and the fans wouldn't spin in the back. Removed the back panel and found two controller boards and a power supply. The controller board at the top had burn marks under two heatsinked transistors (photo titled Top_Left). They said 13005D on them. I could not find those in America, so after a lot of googling and cross checking datasheets it looks like E13005 are replacments. Tested them with the diode setting and they both look good.

          Put the board back...

Help repair Panasonic fridge not cooling
          by mikey5791
          Hi all forum members,

Few days ago, i might have forgotten to close my home fridge freezer door completely. The next day, the ice cubes and frozen meat almost melted halfway and the freezer doesn't feel cool. I shut it off, wipe dry and let it air dry for one whole day. The next day i switched on the fridge, the compressor run for a second and it shuts off(no vibration and no sound at all) only the internal freezer compartment fan is running but is not cooling even i switched on a full day.
After shut off, i dismantle the rear water pan holder and reached to the compressor wiring....

          Wine Enthusiast 170 Bottle N'Finity Wine Cellar Model # 273 02 70
          by magik20
          Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone might be able to offer some guidance on repairing a Wine Enthusiast N'finity 170 bottle wine cellar, model 273 02 70.

I recently acquired this unit for free via Facebook Marketplace, hoping to fix it up as a gift for my wife. I have some basic electronic skills (comfortable with a multimeter, basic soldering, identifying components) but I'm definitely not an advanced technician.

The main challenge is that when I picked up the unit, the main control/power board had already been removed and the previous owner said it needs a...

          Fridge - Gram

Have this fridge, laboratory grade unit, not working fully.

It's designed with a chilling unit at the top, on the inside, and a fan just below that. When the door is closed, the fan blows the cold air down through the fridge, and when the door opens, the fan switches off, presumably so that it doesn't blow all the cold air out.

The fan isn't switching on, so in addition to not having uniform cold throughout the fridge, the chilling tubes tend to ice up. I took the lid off the top, electronics are in the lid, and when the door is opened and closed, I can hear the relevant...
