Re: Dead t480s, trying to troubleshoot. May have found something.
I took a thermal image of it plugged in and the suspected chip lit up. So did a couple, I'm guessing resisters? As well as a third, small black square. I added pictures.
On the schematic their code is Rg34 and R633. Not sure about the third little black box.
I guess I should remove this chip, plug the board back in and if those components don't get hot then I can replace the chip and it won't blow out? I have it's replcement but only ordered one....

Need help with a wine fridge controller board.
Model: Frigidaire FFWC18L2QB
Board: FX101B PCB16006F1 110 HANYI
This fridge was turning on, but wouldn't cool and the fans wouldn't spin in the back. Removed the back panel and found two controller boards and a power supply. The controller board at the top had burn marks under two heatsinked transistors (photo titled Top_Left). They said 13005D on them. I could not find those in America, so after a lot of googling and cross checking datasheets it looks like E13005 are replacments. Tested them with the diode setting and they both look good.
Put the board back...

Dead t480s, trying to troubleshoot. May have found something.
Hello. I have a lenovo that will not show any indication of life. No led, sound or anything really. So I took the motherboard out and started testing points according to the advice in this thread: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=102409
PU201 is Showing 6v
VREG3/5 show a high value (around 20v) for a split second then drop down very quickly. Hold around 1v but then continue to drop to zero. One is showing .2v.
Fuse PF1 is showing very low voltage (which according to the thread deals with docking and is expected)...

Can an overheating bga blow out a powerboard?
Hello, guys. I fixed a monitor the other day, but I don't have a strong understanding of electronics and was curious about how the PFC and a couple of mosfets on the powerboard blew out. Here is what was known about the monitor:
I bought it "as-is" hoping to salvage it for replacement parts. However when I plugged it in it powered up and worked fine for about an hour. After that the monitor's power would be very irratic and turn off and on several times. I opened it up and noticed that the mainboard had a faulty heatsink on the main BGA chip. Not only was it not making...

help finding this IC? I'm reading it as 6C21609 1A50
I believe it's a PFC from a Samsung powersupply, but not really sure. I'm reading it as 6C21609 1A50, however can't find anything for that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated....

Did the fet kill this board?
I removed the bulging caps. The other side looks fine....

Wizard: How do lcd tvs stack up to plasma as far as repairing them. What about the LED versions. Are those going to be bullet proof?...Last edited by dropfry; 05-29-2009, 07:40 PM.

Re: 42 Inch Plasma TV with bad caps
Thats troubling, Im still going to go component by component unill I figure it out. Id rather spend weeks looking for some proprietary chip thats coded in a dead language. Maybe Ill google how to program IC's. The internet is a great thing. Ill post any progress or me smashing the bastard with a hammer as it happens.
And to Ran, Its a Textronics 7900 series. Guy sold it to me for $150, Ive seen some sell for 280$ including shipping as-is on ebay. I hear 100mhz is more than enough though, this one is 400....

42 Inch Plasma TV with bad caps
Greetings. This place is e excellent.
My tale of woe begins with a 42 inch 42PC3D-UD.A1
Here's a link to a very hi res picture of my tv.
One day the picture went out and only the sound comes on.
I opened it up and found 9 swollen Samwha 3300uf 10V caps (Purple squares on powersupply). So I replaced them and tried firing it up. No dice. Probing around with my voltmeter I found a bad fuse on the Y board, so I replaced that as well (Purple square). Now the tv makes a click...Last edited by dropfry; 05-26-2009, 06:17 PM.
