What is the best way to clean old relays?

I've got an old Motorola R2200 service monitor which gotten wonky, because the previous owner had it sit in a damp basement. Almost all basements are damp around here. Of course it uses an unobtainable relay. Most of the 80s stuff doesn't use sealed relays, rather have a see through plastic on top that pops off.

Problem is that this relay needs to be cleaned. However the relay is so small that my burnishing tools do not fit. Same problem with other old gear that use these small miniature relays with the clear top cover.

What's everyone's mini relay cleaning secret?
    IPO, Deoxit etc?

Dose relay have anything about it that is special about it

If not why not replace it with the same specifications or better and mount where you have room

Are talking about the degaussing relay for the screen

again, these relays can't be replaced because they were obsolete long time ago. And yes, it is about room constraints / location of the original residing relay. There is an option of relocating, but you really don't want to do that either when RF is in the game and the leads would be way too long.

I have used some P600 sand paper cut into a thin strip and sometimes I will fold it to clean both contacts. You can find very fine paper 1000 ~ 4000 grit

The dilemma is that this relay is under the card slots. Couldn't be any worse than that.

it looks similar to this one, but I cant make out the coil voltage on yours. https://www.ebay.com/itm/AROMAT-S-SE...-/131730385563
The coil resistance of 720Ω seems to be 12v coil, the 5v one has a 130Ω coil

The Panasonic S series might be have a replacement

My relay is 720Ω... There are 2 relays in there I noticed in the service manual. I guess, I have to find now the other one. The AG number on the relay is different on ebay. Anyway if I could find a sealed relay replacement, that would be the best idea.

I would say you have read the numbers wrong and it says something like Aromat AQ3043.1408
The drawing on the relay shows a "4 form A" configuration, the last two terminals are empty.
Panasonic S4EB-12V would be a replacement example if the pin spacing is correct:

Thanks Per! The first 2 letters AC was wrong, but it’s an AG as far as I can see. The second letter is not a Q and not a C.

If you can't get strips in the relay, then it's going to have to be a spray job.

I personally use the cheapest nastiest kind of toilet paper, the one that scratches your bum, lol. Then a burst of duster to blow away the fragments that have fallen inside and it's all good.

Yeah... kinda what I've been doing all along... IPO and Deoxit for those little buggers that no one can clean. Most of them switch RF (RX/TX relay) or band pass (filter board). I haven't found anything better than IPO and Deoxit D100 combo yet.

Yesterday I successfully repaired a Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP that had inadvertently been used as a surge suppressor at our transmitter site. It has already been replaced with an updated one but it's coming home with me now instead of being e-cycled. To be specific, this is the MA model that has the blue backlit display and has been discontinued, although this design may have been used in many UPS units including the smaller Middle Atlantic ones in this series.

Here's what happened: We experienced a brownout/surge at the site, which damaged the UPS and took our broadcasting...

I got this TV a little over a year ago from a coworker from my previous job. It’s a Samsung 46” TV, model number LN46b530p7f.

                                      Problem:
                                      Backlight cycles On and Off.
Basically, when the TV is turned On, there is a relay click heard from the TV PS board. The relay cycles On and Off 4 times in about 2-3 second intervals. Each of those 4 times, the backlights also cycle On and Off with the relay. The screen TFT isn’t cracked/damaged and appears to work - I can see a “no signal” image when the backlights turn On briefly – though the image is a bit dull/dark....

I have a very small float switch, I'm using in a very small tank. It only fits in one way. Link https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-Switch.../dp/B07DZ1J2GB

I want the switch to be open when the water is high, and closed when the water is low. Unfortunately it works the opposite. And since this switch is designed to be underwater, it's all sealed up, there is no taking it apart or hacking it up.

It will be driving a water pump, basic idea, when the water is low, switch closes, which turns on water pump, when enough water is in the tank, float switch floats,...

Hi, I'm seeing one 9V relay having temperature 40C on its 9V (primary) side. Does that seem right? I switched 2 relays on that board and the temperature was the same (on the same position), so I'm sure it's not a faulty relay. I measured voltage on that relay and it was 9.5V DC, so that looks good. I don't see any other relay on that board having that kind of temperature and they have 9V on them too.
I thought maybe the transistor that is switching this relay keeps switching on/off, so I also checked for AC and there was almost none: 0.3V using mV range. No steady frequency was shown, but...
