I see you can buy gps antennas that have wires exposed and no cable ends. I need this end for my hondex plotter.

TOPGNSS antenna wiring is different, for some reason I thought you had the SCU-31. I think no big difference if RX- is connected to ground or TXB.
*Note the thin/skinny black wire is special and not a ground but NMEA OUT-/TXB(-). The thick black wire is GND.

without dimensions it could be a GX - often called an aviation connector, but it could also be a variant of a DIN socket.

Searching for simmilar pictures, see the nut is placed on different depth and may not be compatibile as well.

I still didn't find out the actual name to this plug. It plugs into the Hondex plotters. Here is a better picture:

it's not a GX - the holes are too small and the notch is off-center
it's not a DIN again because the keying is not centered.

Thats the only thing I could come up with that is the closest match. Probably the locking mechanism is different. On that ZC series the locking mechanism like a pilot or ham radio mic and the outer ring screws on to the receptacle until tight, I am not sure but I think yours you plug in and give something like a 90 degree twist on the outer ring?

In any case… give these guys a call and send them your picture. Maybe they have something or can make you something.
If push comes to shove, you can always change out the receptacle on the plotter with something more common like a “normal” 6 pin configuration.

On a couple of my battery testing machines they have aviation type but what I found out is that there several different sizes and it is hard to determine which size you have because I ordered some that I thought were the right size it turns out that it was one size bigger than the ones I bought so had to reorder the right size the second time so it might be a hit and miss to find the right one or just change it out for one that is not too hard to find one note buy it big enough size that it is easy to solder on because they make some really small ones I had to once replace one on a machine for a company that I used to work for and I can tell you it was not fun

So i received the GX16-6 and they do indeed fit. I may need help wiring it now though. Would the two ground wires on the antenna go to pin 1 of the connector? I'm also wondering why there is a data input - and + on the connector. Im pretty sure red would go to pin 6 and maybe RX to pin 5?

data input +/- is probably RS485 differential signalling

One may be chassis ground, while the other is power ground. Just look at it with your DMM. Just start populating the pins you know for sure, then the rest isn’t that daunting. Also make sure you look at the wiring picture the correct way.
Happened to me just a couple of months ago ago, that I had to make a custom cable. Once picture was seen from the front of the connector. However the other connector was seen from the back side. Needless to say, I effed it up and had to redo the connector.

The problem is confusing wire labels, poor translation, and some are TTL RS-232 others are RS-422. Then there are mistakes. What a mess!

Wiring of Standard Horizon SCU-31 GPS Antenna:
RED - DC POWER INPUT (+10 to 35 VDC)
BROWN - GPS DATA OUTPUT (+), connects to radio GPS RX+. This is TTL RS-232
BLACK/SHIELD - GND/COMMON

Not confirmed are:
GREEN - ???
BLUE -??? GPS DATA INPUT (+), connects to radio GPS TX+ or leave not connected.

Here's what I did:

Red - 6
Yellow - 5
Blacks - 1
Green - 3

The green I just kind of guessed. My other option for green was 2. I will test it tomorrow.

I tried green on prong 2 and 3 and neither worked so I'm not sure what to do next

OK give me some time to draw a diagram. It's hard. The H and C (TXD H,C etc.) is hard to know what they are doing.

*HEY what colour wires are there in the SCU-31 cable? The manual gives only 3 of the 6: red, green, brown, blk and I also find this pic for the SCU-31 GPS antenna/

This is what I would try for wiring the SCU-31 GPS antenna to the Hondex HDX-121 plotter. Problem is the Standard Horizon SCU-31 GPS antenna seems to have unknown wires (blue, yellow) not in its manual.

You must program the correct baud rate in the plotter for whatever port you are using:
Menu 7.EXT TERMINAL – {not sure if you need to use the output feature, which is when the plotter can also send information to the GPS antenna).
3.NMEA1 OUTPUT ON/OFF
4.NMEA2 OUTPUT ON/OFF
5.NMEA1 PORT BAUD RATE
6.NMEA2 PORT BAUD RATE
7.GPS PORT BAUD RATE. (4800, 9600,38400) {SC-31U is 4800} GP-16H: 4800, GP-17H(HD): 9600 AIS: 38400
Reboot the unit after change of this set-up.
