    450V @ 100uF capacitors on eBay

Good day; I have run across my first bad 450V @ 100uF capacitors on a RCA L32WD22; I think. See Pictures. I tried to buy 2 from a local supplier here in Ontario; but he wanted my first born and some body parts for them. Checked online; first at Bad Caps, but it is not available here. Looked on eBay and found these (See picture.); Nichicon 450V @ 100uF Display Capacitors; “PZ” series. The problem here is I cannot find them on the Digi-Key site for info. The question is; are they suitable for using in the repair of a monitor power supply board?
    Thank you.

Those are fake. It's plainly apparent from the picture. Don't buy them.

Don't worry about the spec for big filter caps. If it fits, it's good.

If you're buying the rest of the capacitors for the PSU from Digikey, you may as well buy the main filter cap from them. Make sure the diameter is ok.
"We have offered them (the Arabs) a sensible way for so many years. But no, they wanted to fight. Fine! We gave them technology, the latest, the kind even Vietnam didn't have. They had double superiority in tanks and aircraft, triple in artillery, and in air defense and anti-tank weapons they had absolute supremacy. And what? Once again they were beaten. Once again they scrammed [sic]. Once again they screamed for us to come save them. Sadat woke me up in the middle of the night twice over the phone, 'Save me!' He demanded to send Soviet troops, and immediately! No! We are not going to fight for them."

      It does not have 100/450V
      https://cdn.badcaps-static.com/pdfs/...e0d99cc53e.pdf

Just type in 100uf 450V in the search box @Digikey, then you can choose NICHICON, RUBICON, just measure the dimension of the original cap.
This cap is not exposed to high switching frequency so it is not as critical as the ones used in the secondary side, this cap only exposed to 120Hz (US), or 50Hz (Europe).

        Re: 450V @ 100uF capacitors on eBay

It is possible for the 450V unit to be exposed to bursts of ripple current at 100kHz (or whatever the switching frequency of the controller), despite filtering out the mains frequency (without active PFC).
I've seen bulging and/or leaking 400/450V electrolytics too in switching power supplies.
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

So far I have only replaced about a hand full of these large caps in the primary side out off abut a thousand LCD monitors and TV I repaired, very very small failure rate, not to say that they do not fail.

            Those are definitely fake.

The bung really gives it away, and also if you notice the plastic wrapper of the capacitor is not as smooth as real nichicons - its very distorted.

Looked like dents in the can.

Its hard to tell. Sometimes they are dents from improper handling, and sometimes (more common on cheapies) the plastic wrapper isn't shrunk right.

I have a 100uf 450v capacitor that is reading 92.2 uf. is it within an acceptable reading or is it leaking? thanks for an early response.

Had my first one a couple weeks ago. 1 in about 36 monitors and 3 TVs.
36 Monitors, 3 TVs, 4 Laptops, 1 motherboard, 1 Printer, 1 iMac, 2 hard drive docks and one IP Phone repaired so far....

Depends on what the tolerance the capacitor is rated at. For electrolytics, 20% tolerance is the most common. I would say that your capacitor is good - assuming it has a rated tolerance of 20%.

Hah that's amusing, I had an Elite cap with the exact same failure just a few weeks ago, thread here:
