Re: Power-One solar Inverter driving me NUTS!!!
On another thought, I recall reading in the manual about the Riso low GFI error. I read that this error of the GFI LED will come on at below 1 megaohm. This would indicate a leakage to ground on the PV side. The way, I understand this, is that the inverter is made to work on 1 megaOhm or above. When I power it on, and it does the RISO check, it comes back at 20 megaohms which is good and normal. So I guess what my point is, the 1 megaOhm that I am reading with the megger when the second board is connected may be normal.

One more I got. You said you changed that CT? Is it installed facing the right way? What I mean its like a current clamp, face it the wrong way and the measurement is negative.
I think the appreciation goes both ways. Plus you were delivering answers as fast as we asked the questions and you spent many hours as well... never stop learning and thanks to you too for hanging in there when things got tough! I like a little challenge once in a while. Specifically something that is on the rare side of things. It would be nice to figure this out, but without a schematic things aren't looking great as we running out of options.
I did make a mistake with that zener however. I had mistaken it for an 18v zener and replaced it with that value. However I tested the adjacent ones and they measure at 12v. Some other data sheets confirmed this. Not sure if it will make any difference or not but I went ahead and replaced it with a 12 V. However, when I installed it and powered it on, unfortunately, I did not beat the sun and it will not power on because it's dark now. Now I'll have to wait until the morning, oh well, I suppose I need a break anyway. We all do.Leave a comment:

I hear ya! Well, if you get any more ideas please don’t hesitate. You have been incredibly helpful and I don’t know how to thank you enough. I know you spent hours of your time in this. I do very much appreciate you!!Leave a comment:

Dang. Back to the drawing board. Would have been nice to have it fixed. I am out of ideas right now.Leave a comment:

I don’t want to get my hopes up because I think I tested it before and it was fine. So it may have blown from the megger testingLeave a comment:

I’ve seen open zeners before. So while it is on the rare side, it’s possible.Leave a comment:

Follow the tracks and see what is connected to that zener. Never mind… saw the pic.Leave a comment:

Re: Power-One solar Inverter driving me NUTS!!!
closest i can find are zener . BZT52C22 . but testing open suggests tvs . never seen diodes fail open . suppose it could happen thoughLast edited by petehall347; 11-20-2023, 04:01 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Power-One solar Inverter driving me NUTS!!!
I think I found something. This dialed circled is testing open in both directions. The remaining are testing fine. Now the question is how to identify it.
This would also make sense in that maybe there isn’t a real ground fault but the detection circuit is wacky. I’ve included a better picture of the markings.
try cleaning it off with 99% IPA so we can read it better. looks like a diode?Leave a comment:

Re: Power-One solar Inverter driving me NUTS!!!
It is denoted with a “V” like the other 4 bulb looking things so I assume it is a gas discharge. If it were a fuse, I would think it would be denoted with a “F“Last edited by mitsu2k; 11-20-2023, 03:03 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Power-One solar Inverter driving me NUTS!!!
If it is a gas discharge arrestor it should be open. If it’s a fuse, then not.
It goes from line to earth ground? If a gas discharge, it’s for lightning protection.Leave a comment:

Re: Power-One solar Inverter driving me NUTS!!!
I was previously told it should test open. See thread below.

It may be that some voltage has to go through it but I fear blowing it if I test wrong.Leave a comment:

Re: Power-One solar Inverter driving me NUTS!!!
check that "v4" device under MOV6.
Other than that I am starting run out of ideas for now.
All the current sensing is done via that CT next to the relays. How ever this is all on the AC side.Leave a comment:

by Francesc V.My parent's solar inverter died after 5 years of good service.
It's a called hybrid inverter:
- It can go with or without batteries
- It has 2 MPPT (8 330W panels in 2 strings) -> 5280Wp
- A 20kWh lithium battery previously used in a Nissan leaf (14S at 4.1V max) -> 57.4V
Panel is showing error 17 and the battery connection has disappeared. On the other hand, is delivering load, MPPTs are working and it's exporting energy to the GRID. Not that "bad".
Let's open it......

by x_orange90_xI just got this tv today and it appeared to have no backlight on. After taking off the rear cover and checking again in the dark I can see that MAYBE one quadrant is lit.. But still it's quite dim. I was going to check the LEDs with my tester, and I found LED 1 and LED 2 + pins on the wire from the inverter, but I couldn't identify a ground. Nonetheless I tried using a mounting screw on the inverter board and also the chassis as ground but regardless my tester reads 300 which is what it reads when there is no voltage draw.
I don't know how exactly to test the inverter itself. Is it... -
by GentianI have a tripp-lite aspint 3636vr inverter charger which blow some of mosfet transistors. I replaced them repaired also the driver circuit and tested but the mosfets burn again.
It work very well as inverter and also as charger if I let the rear switch in auto mode (inverter) and charger only(charging) but in auto when I connect the feed line 220V AC first time it pass ok to line and start charging the batteries but when I remove the feed line it pass to inverter mode and if I do it again the second time when passing from charging to inverter the Main transformer start making a...03-06-2023, 07:07 AM -
by valvashonFor some reason I'm just not going to let this 19" TV defeat me. I guess because I have a schematic to work from I feel like I'm oh so close.
History- while adding a turn-on circuit I let a small screw roll under the power board. Worked through all of that circuitry, probably replacing a MOSFET and PWM controller that were not bad but I was following the service manual. Finally figured out that the power supply is in working order when the inverter section (for the backlights) is disconnected. When the +12 supply to the inverter is disconnected the +12 and +5 will come up...1 Photo -
by caseyjay_48I am currently on a troubleshoot of 46” Sony KDL-46BX450 tv. I came back from Washington to Texas on medical emergency and had to leave all my tools up there. All I have is a couple of screwdrivers and a dvm. I wish to ask the community a troubleshooting question. Please forgive stupid questions as meds I am taking produce brain fog.
I have well maintained Sony KDL-46BX450. It went black one day. After turn-on, I get solid green light and Sony logo in screen center for about 1-2 seconds, then black. No blinking LEDs, no hissing. Flashlight test shows screen characters dimly viewable,... - Loading...
