Hiya. I'm new to electronics, but I would really love to get into it. I want to buy a soldering station, and after reading this FAQ on the forum, and this advice from the completely awesome Lady Ada, I'm pretty convinced that Weller is the way to go. There is a Weller WTCP for sale cheap in my local newspaper, which is important since I'm a stereotypical starving student. The forum FAQ recommends 60W, Lady Ada recommends 40W, so I kind of figured this 50W one was a happy medium.
Could anyone recommend if this is a good choice? I want to use it to replace bad capacitors on motherboards and monitors, but also to do some general electronics projects with an arduino microcontroller.
