Sorry for coming back so late to say this (job interview on the other side of the country and all), but I want to thank you all for your input. It looks like it's a good product even if it's old, so I'm buying it.
I usually don't take orders without a previously agreed upon safe word, but okay just this once....

Weller WTCP - recommended?
Hiya. I'm new to electronics, but I would really love to get into it. I want to buy a soldering station, and after reading [URL=https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=425]this FAQ on the forum[/URL], and [URL=https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=425]this advice from the completely awesome Lady Ada[/URL], I'm pretty convinced that Weller is the way to go. There is a Weller WTCP for sale cheap in my local newspaper, which is important since I'm a stereotypical starving student. The forum FAQ recommends 60W, Lady Ada recommends 40W, so I kind of figured this 50W one was a happy...
