there is no reason to limit to proskit. there are many other brands.

search for "flush cutters" or "lead cutters"

there is plato and xcelite just to name a few other brands.

most important is that the blades are angled like we discussed here

or otherwise to be careful and hold them level with the board.

i think you ordered 936-12 which has a 1.6mm tip. should be nice.

Yep, thats what I ordered. I wasn't sure if it came with the tip so I ordered another 1.6mm tip just in case. I also ordered a long pointed conical tip as I read somewhere about using it to clear pcb holes of solder. Maybe not for mainboards but for other projects.

well you will need to replace the tip sometime in the future so you are covered already. the conical tip can use for fixing some smt components, mobile phones etc its not gonna be useful for cleaning mobo holes

I use the $12 ones from Radio Shack. I've seen the same problem. $15 for a pair of $5 cutters!
