    Samsung Model PS59D8000

    Hi Guys ,
    Hope you are all staying safe and well in these troubling times
    I need some help please on the following fault condition
    Samsung Plasma panel is showing a red standby light when i switch it on via the remote it clicks the red light starts flashing then goes to white led but no picture or sound is displayed ,
    I have checked the voltages here are my results

    BOARD NUMBER BN44-0044.7A

    Mains power 230vac
    VS = 0V
    VE= 0V
    VSC =0V
    5Vstby =5v

    So i have a issue with the supply board not turning on
    so i have checked the pin header connections as follows

    Bottom header 6 pin CN602
    B5v=5vdc
    B5v=5vdc
    Gnd=0v
    VScon= 0.8vmv
    PSon= 206.2mv
    VSon= 1.7mv

    Con 601
    B5v=5.63vdc
    B15v=15.7vdc
    B15v=15.7vdc
    GND=0v
    GND=0v
    GND=0v
    B15v=15.16v
    GND=0v
    A5v=5.379vdc
    PSon=209.2mv

    So i had access to swaping out a power supply board with a verified working one
    the fault still remains , i believe it might be a fault in the Main board not switching on the power supply
    Is their a way i can jump the connector to manually turn on the supply board to test if it will come on?
    your help is much appreciated
    thankyou
    Wayne

    All the boards connected.

        Re: Samsung Model PS59D8000

        This BN44-0047A uses ACTIVE LOW (<1V = ON, >2V = OFF) for PSON, that is why the switched B5 and B15 are present when PSON is at 0.2V as you measure, so PSON is working fine, but the VSON is not working.

        The VSON is active high, so to force on the Vs power supply section you can force it on by connecting 1K resistor between VSON pin and A5V (Always ON 5V) to force on the Vs power supply.
        If you want to force on the Vson with all cables connected you must disconnect the VSON wire going back to the main board before trying to force on, if you jump the VSON to A5 directly (without resistor) and the main board is still connected you can damage the main board.

        Is the other pin Vscon?

          I all so noticed on the X Main board the Cable that joins the X&Y boards
          @ pins 1 & 2 that go to pin 12 & 13 =VS on the Y Mainboard
          NOTE Y MAINBOARD IS UNPLUGGED
          i am seeing a short to gnd when resistance testing the plug on X main board
          is this correct ?

            Ok i will try & force the VSon and see if it will fire up and i will definetly put a 1k res in does it matter what wattage the 1k res is?
            Yes mate the other pin is VScon

              Are you talking about VSon pin?

              What does the service say about VScon pin?

              Does the service manual have the diagram of the power supply?
              Have to be careful about forcing on the power supply if everything are connected except the control line since the power supply has to be turned on in sequence so it is not exposed to high inrush if all the power supply sections are forced on at the same time. I do not know the sequence turn on of this board.
              Another thing is that you do not have short circuit (LOADS) On the VS, VA outputs.
              It may be best to test the power supply board by itself without any thing connect to it except the incoming AC

                oh i dont know if i will attempt that then dont want to blow it up
                so i guess the million dollar question is the fault comming from the main board where does the VSon signal get its control from to tell the VS on to work ?

                cheers

                  The manual does not say anything about VS-CON
                  1. STBY 5V (CN801, #2, 5v)
                  2. PS_ON (CN801, #1, 3.3v-0v)
                  3. VS_ ON (CN802, #6, 0-3.3v)
                  4. Panel should illuminate briefly

                    I am not sure if the VSon is being locked out due to fault.
                    You can still test the power supply by itself without having connected to any loads (boards). It will be safer that way.

                        I have no idea since I do not have the schematic to find out what those pins are connected to what devices on the board..

                              I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

                              Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

                              I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

                              The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

                              With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                              Hey everyone,

                              This power supply board is hard to find but there are repair kits available. This board had a blown fuse, FP801S, blown PFC MOSFET, QP802CS and ceramic cap, CP809. I replaced them with parts I already had and tested the rest of the parts that would've come in the repair kit and they were fine. I powered the board up on the bench expecting, in typical Samsung power supply board fashion, to see all my output voltages but, nothing. 0 volts on CNL801, CNM801 and CNT801. The only thing I have is 170vdc on the filter caps. No standby voltage either.

                              Anybody...

                              Panasonic switching power supply daughter board has two 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors which I do not keep in stock

                              I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

                              This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

                              After all of...

                              Need advice testing a samsung power supply board with scope
                              by repair-it
                              I am attempting to test a samsung power supply board to verify the pfc ic is working. I am powering up the board with my isolation transformer. The board turns on fine but when I attempt to connect the ground for the scope probe, it trips out the isolator. I was taught not to 'float my scope' so I am wondering if I should test without connecting the ground lead or would that be asking for trouble? Not sure how else to test, I don't have a portable scope. I could plug direct to mains power but that would bypass the safety factor.

                              Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
                              Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...
