im going to try to post sme pics....as you can see only the graphics are solarized.......the background display is not...its solid color

and images are upside down

im hoping this issue can be resolved....i have only seen this on plasma tvs in the past and never on a lcd tv

retailer just informed me the board came out of a 50ex645

mine is 46ex645

they both use exact same part # per shop jimmy Sony 1-895-307-11 MBP Board (Main Board)

can anyone confirm this?

yes i know.....the board is for a few model tvs but on shop jimmy it says must do software upgrade when u buy the board from them so not sure what that meaans

i didnt buy it from shop jimmy though....just making a comment

i dont feel very confident on the update as it doesnt seem it has anything to do with what my issue is...it just seems like an improved performance upgrade and nothing to do with altering or changing displays etc.....we will see

i think my issue is board related....the board i got is prob defective and the retailer is lying about it.......i think its a video processing issue and not lcd panel issue like he says it is...since the lcd panel worked fine prior to hdmi port frying

hi this is what the retailer nickstv shop said

"The solarization issue is coming from either a bad panel, or a bad T-con board. There is a chip on your T-con called an AS15 chip which more than likely is where the fault is coming from. Main boards can not cause solarization problems due to how the data and signals are processed between the main, the T-con, and the panel. There is a small possibility that running an update could fix the solarization issue as well.
If you will run that update for me, and then get back to me with the results, that would be appreciated.

is the tcon a possible issue causing the solarization or could the panel be bad from the hdmi port getting fried?

'images are upside down' that is not due to the T-CON board.
There are some threads in BADCAPS with solarization due to wrong setting in the service menu.

hi bud m..i was just quoting what the nickstv.com owner said ...thats where i bought the part from

and i dont know what my tcon board looks like im not home...im at work till 530a,,,


im really just concerned about the solarization...is it due to a defective board the nickstv sold me or some other issue....like i said prior to the hdmi port frying there was no picture issue

could the fried hdmi port caused this issue??.....i guess im asking what could be the root cause of the solarization....bad lcd panel? bad or uncompatible main board? bad tcon? or as simple as a service men setting adjustment? or maybe a power supply issue not putting out enough volts?

any ideas?

Hi I'm new to posting comments but here goes, I've seen a video from norcal715 where he fixes a solarization, issue from the service menu and also I read somewhere from a book that a 180 degree picture flip can be fixed from service menu from a setting called hv flip hope it helps as youtube also has videos of similar issues so hope you can get your set fixed, thanks for your time.

update.....software update not needed as tv is already updated per running update...so thats a dead end solution

can you get into the service menu? if you can take some pictures of whats on each screen as there maybe a setting you can alter.

Actually its not. It costs nothing to try and depending on how its done (ie. internal "sematics"), it may solve your problem.

Just thought I'd chime in here again since I have some parts from both the 46ex645 as well as the 50ex645. Both of the problems you are experiencing are definitely related to the board mis-match. If you can get the firmware changed to the 46" and/or adjust it in the service menu I'm confident it will fix your issue. If I'm not mistaken and you can confirm for me, the 46" has a Samsung LCD panel. I have a T-con here for the 50" and it's a CMO t-con in that one. The panel mismatch is the issue with both the menu being upside down as well as the color problem.

'Both of the problems you are experiencing are definitely related to the board mis-match.' +1. The EEPROM on the T-CON tells the main board what the T-CON setup is (I read that in the SONY training manual, need to find that again).
You can ask the seller as to why the picture is upside down, I would trust shojimmy since they deal with lot of boards and problems more than other smaller seller.
BTW, what firmware name/version is on the replacement board?

Service Menu Code For Sony TV:

First power off your TV using the remote, then press following buttons quickly on your TV remote:

Display (or i+) + 5 + Volume Up + Power

It'll show the hidden service menu on your TV screen
