    Acer AL2216W Resistor ID

I have a ACER AL2216W LCD monitor that uses the v2 power board. I have only seen this board in one post in your forum.

I have identified a resistor in the attached picture that was damaged when the monitor failed. It is approximately centered at the top of the picture just to the right of the heat sink, I circled it in red. The picture I attached is not my actual board, it is identical to mine but I'm using it to show the location of the failed resistor.

When mine failed it burned the resistor and I have no way of identifying the value.

I'm hoping that someone has the same board and can help me to identify this resistor. I believe it may be a 110ohm high temperature resistor but with mine burnt and the picture not really clear enough to identify the bands I'm not certain.

The component # on the board is #816

    Any help is appreciated.

I was going to try and help but you have given far too little information.
A picture of YOUR board showing the position of the resistor would have been a lot more useful.
A hint as to which of the other threads mention the board would have been useful.
I have not the time nor inclination to look at them all to find it.
A clue as to the board number would have been unbelievably useful.

The other thread on your forum with the same board was from 9/26/2010 by
        Badcaps Guy
Titled - Acer AL2216W Dead!! Here we go!!

I found it when I did a search for AL2216W which is the Model of the Acer Monitor. The other thread as referenced above was one of the results. Apparently the Acer AL2216W used a couple different p/s boards and this is the one I have. I have seen it referenced elsewhere as Ver 2. Not sure if that is official.

The service manual does not have anything for the power supply board.
The part number on the board is 79090140.

My issue is to verify the value of component #816 which is a high temp resistor as mine was charred when it failed and after cleaning we can't identify the code rings. Trying to verify the value of the resistor.

I've includes additional pictures but as you can see the resistor has already been removed, that is why I initially sent the other picture for easier identification of the component.

        Any Help is appreciated

OK That is a lot better - I think the picture you first put up is a different board number
          - cant be bothered to check it out, but if you read this thread you may find something to your advantage

By the way you need to change probably all those green caps - one looks bulged and leaky?

Thanks for your help it is greatly appreciated.

I am replacing all the caps but I wanted validation on the resistor so that I could order them all at once.

Again thank you for your help.

Resistors don't normally burn up like that without help. Looks like transistor Q801 is connected to one end of R816. Try checking it for shorts.

Also, cap C818 is bulged and starting to leak.

                  Hmmm .....

                  ILPI-033 resistor R816 should be 100Ohm 5% (brown/black/brown/gold). Hope that helps.

Yes, it does look like 100 Ohms resistor from the picture at shopjimmy.com
Does the reading show open on that resistor?

I just look at the service manual to be sure that it is 100 Ohms, it uses the same board as used in Viewsonic VA2226W. I know I have seen this board before. See page 66.

You need to check that transistor and the Zener diode that is connected to the Base of the transistor. The circuit will work without the resistor/transistor in place, that section of the circuit is used for protection in case the 16V B+ gets too high, then the transistor will start conducting if the regulation circuit has failed.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Working on a 2023 M3 A2992 unit with 820-02918 board, and it uses a new USB-C power architecture, with rectangular controllers. I do not have a perfect-matching board, so have been repairing this one the old-fashioned way (slowly).

I managed to blow-away a single resistor that I can't find and can't determine the value of. It connects to ground, so I went ahead and stuffed it with a 100K resistor in case it's a simple pull-up. But, I'm now having issues with that side of the board, and am curious if it's possibly related to this resistor! I have no schematics and no board view, so...

I'd like to offer an Acer IPIMB-AR Rev: 1.02A fullflash BIOS (cleaned ME region). The model is for Acer Predator G5920.
It is a model that is based on Intel Z77 PCH and doesn't have on-board graphics and video connectors.
I suppose it doesn't have any restriction about discrete graphics cards (I mean they don't have to be in a whitelist).
Please don't mistake this mainboard with a similar model with on-board graphics and based on Intel B75 PCH.
