I want to thank everyone for their responses, this is all great. Selldoor help me to identify the resistor earlier today but the other cautions are appreciated. Having the schematic is invaluable.

    Thank you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The other thread on your forum with the same board was from 9/26/2010 by

Titled - Acer AL2216W Dead!! Here we go!!

I found it when I did a search for AL2216W which is the Model of the Acer Monitor. The other thread as referenced above was one of the results. Apparently the Acer AL2216W used a couple different p/s boards and this is the one I have. I have seen it referenced elsewhere as Ver 2. Not sure if that is official.

The service manual does not have anything for the power supply board. ...

I have a ACER AL2216W LCD monitor that uses the v2 power board. I have only seen this board in one post in your forum.

I have identified a resistor in the attached picture that was damaged when the monitor failed. It is approximately centered at the top of the picture just to the right of the heat sink, I circled it in red. The picture I attached is not my actual board, it is identical to mine but I'm using it to show the location of the failed resistor.

When mine failed it burned the resistor and I have no way of identifying...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hello everyone, I'm Jim. I have a associates in electronics from too many years ago I don 't need to tell, I've tinkered with my own stuff even before I went to school for it. First pc was an IBM clone with and 8088 processor and 2 5 1/4 drives no HDD.

I had my own custom pc business for several years back when a half way decent pc was 3000.00 +. Now I just tinker with my own stuff.

Glad I found this forum I think it will be very helpful and who knows maybe some day I'll be able to help someone too....
