Wow, the heatsink is more expensive than the CPU. Any more budget friendly options? I'm looking at this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08WPDD6GD/ seems to be well reviewed, should handle an "office PC" with a 95W CPU, and it's only 50 bucks.

      only??
athlon and p4 heatsinks could handle 90w+ and they didnt cost 50 - we are being screwed by the industry these days!

This could be the easiest Cooler Master heatsink to mount:

Much better/cheaper option is one of these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/203479603087

That's what I'm running on my FX8320 server. Handles running at full tilt for hours no problem. Silent AF too.

I need to order some 1000uf @ 16 volt it has to be 8mm in diameter what is a good choice

Here is the page of capacitors that I can choose from what is a good choice for a FSP 400-60GLC

I try to use a 565-1664-ND which is a 10mm in diameter unfortunately it will not fit because there are two of them the same size and value and there is no room and they go to two different circuits not in parallel...

[MSI KT3 Ultra ARU] Advice on capacitor choice
            by cloppy007
I've found out that the all the Nichicon HM(M) caps on this board are faulty and need replacement. However, I didn't plan in advance and I don't have good replacement caps.

The original values are 2200uF, 6.3V, 5mm pitch. According to the datasheet, the rated impedance should be around 13-18 uOhms.

There are 8 of them, 3 to the left of the CPU socket and 5 on the bottom, very close to the northbridge. They are all connected, according to my multimeter.

I think I recall hearing that I don't have to use the same capacitance for in series...

Donkey Kong Junior arcade DMA controller choice
            by japlytic
This is about a component in a computer system being a DMA controller.

Interestingly in a circuit diagram for the Nintendo arcade game Donkey Kong Junior from 1982, even though it has a second-source Zilog Z80 compatible CPU, the DMA controller is an Intel type (8257) instead of a Zilog type.
My theory is that at the time, even though there was domestic second source manufacture for the 8257 but not (possibly) for the Zilog type DMA controller and that Nintendo (and a number of others) wanted to be loyal to their country by trying to only source components from Japanese ...

HP 15-cw0994na - Battery issues and choice of new one?
            by wyga
So there is this laptop HP 15-cw0994na with battery issue.

It goes to 100% charge, but take the charger out and give it top 5 minutes, it will cut off power. Won't start at this point from the battery itself.

After plugging charger in, can be started as usual and begins to charge again from 0%.

So pretty much dead battery right? Laptop is also 4 years old, I don't see anything out of place on board. Just old dusty laptop.

So I have started looking for the replacement batteries.
Original battery from this specific 15-cw0994na model is HT03XL...

            LG Service menu android app
            by notallbad
I had been using wave audio files to play via the headphone jack to an ir led but had difficulty getting the InStop file to light the led, no sign of life when viewing the led through the camera app on my mobile phone.

Anyway, came across this free android app called IR Wave Plus that can utilise a homemade audio jack to ir led lead.
Not limited to just LG either!

A few settings require adjustment but the app itself is rather straightforward.
In settings ensure the slider bar is set to maximum and Force volume to 100% for audio ir blaster is ticked.
