  • Re: HP 15-cw0994na - Battery issues and choice of new one?

    Thanks a lot.
    I do not trust those Chinese battery replacements at all so I wasn't thinking about it.

    So far that genuine, pulled 11.34V | 3440mAh seems to be from most trustworthy source comparing to other ones. I know the company itself, they are in fact testing those batteries, this one is Grade A with over 90% charge remaining and definitely it will be genuine one.

    Difference here between original fitted battery rating is 0.21V and 30mAh lower.

    If I am not mistaken...

  • HP 15-cw0994na - Battery issues and choice of new one?

    So there is this laptop HP 15-cw0994na with battery issue.

    It goes to 100% charge, but take the charger out and give it top 5 minutes, it will cut off power. Won't start at this point from the battery itself.

    After plugging charger in, can be started as usual and begins to charge again from 0%.

    So pretty much dead battery right? Laptop is also 4 years old, I don't see anything out of place on board. Just old dusty laptop.

    So I have started looking for the replacement batteries.
    Original battery from this specific 15-cw0994na model is HT03XL...

  • Re: LG 42LD490-ZB troubleshooting

    Alright! Thanks a lot. I get my hopes up
    I was just thinking then maybe its just some failure on that NTP-7100 without visible issues on the outside of the chip. Which happens sometimes.
    Anyway I did order that NTP-7100 so waiting to try it out.

  • Re: LG 42LD490-ZB troubleshooting

    Pardon me the language there. I was actually aiming to reflow it.

    As I couldn't come up with any other idea I wanted to give it a go with a reflow before I close it down and wait for the part to show up somewhere.

    I wouldn't be able to do full BGA reball at the moment due to lack of resources and the hot air station was pretty much the only option there.

    I have to say I wasn't actually expecting any positive outcome out from that but I did took that seriously. So, I have applied quite generous amount...

  • LG 42LD490-ZB troubleshooting

    I've got that LG 42LD490-ZB which been around here for ages waiting to be repaired at some point in free time.

    Issues were:
    1) Stays on logo, won't boot, cannot access menu
    2) Loud pitching noise from built-in speakers & av board.

    So I just took a look today again. I remember by poking around with multimeter I couldn't find anything back then and it was same today.

    So I've checked some common issues and apparently plenty people used to have problems with main chip. After losing hope to find any clue I went - well lets just try the hot air...

  • Re: MacBook Pro Early 2015 13" 820-4924-A troubleshooting? No display, fan spin

    Yes, I have tried bare logic board without RIO board. Similar result, full fan spin and when connecting display through thunderbolt it shuts down. As soon as cable is unplugged or display turned off it kicks back in.

    I've tried out of curiosity back then plug in something to the USB ports on RIO board, to see if that will shut it down. No issues with that. I feel like I am missing something

    About the contradiction there, pardon me. I've checked components nearby 1V as far...

  • MacBook Pro Early 2015 13" 820-4924-A troubleshooting? No display, fan spin

    MacBook Pro 2015 A1502, motherboard 820-4924-A suddenly stopped working. When I turn it on I got the full fan spin, however no display. What's strange when I plug in the HDMI cable with TV turned on MacBook shuts down, no more fan spin. Same goes for the thunderbolt.

    I've checked the board for potential damage, no components burned, no shorts really. I have found out only Q3080 to be discoloured but that's just probably heat. I've checked the components related to Q3080, nothing shorted, on PPBUS 13V.

    After few other checks I've found no voltage on C1031 on PPVCC_S0_CPU....

  • Wacom Cintiq 22HD - DTK 2200 pen not working, component identification?

    On the Wacom Cintiq 22 model DTK-2200 pen has stopped working. It didn't look like the software issue so I have taken a look inside. All the other functions such as display, side panels, buttons work completely fine.

    Upon opening I have found out one component is burned on the daughter board which looks like the board is responsible for pen functions mostly.

    Burned component seems to be to be one of the voltage regulators? Marking on the board U3, but no chance to read the component marking as it's too badly burned.

    I've looked online for schematic...

  • PS4 Original CUH-1006A, dead, no beep, no shorts, power supply good, dead ic?

    Hi,
    So I've got that console PS4 Original model CUH-1006A logic board SAA-001

    The console suddenly has stopped working.
    First there was no beep upon pressing the power button, but eject button will give us a reaction. Then after replacing PSU by original owner with exactly same model it completely stopped working. No beep, no reaction at all.

    I personally think it is pure coincidence and some IC just died over the time.

    Both power supplies are good, checked them inside and are working with the other board with BLOD.

    I have...

  • Re: Lenovo IdeaPad 500S-14ISK LA-D061P REV: 1.0 - Powers on, no picture

    Actually I took another try with the multimeter.

    I've found out low resistance to the ground on couple of spots.

    PLI4= 7.8 Ω
    PLI6= 16.0 Ω
    PL801= 80.0Ω (when disconnected with PL802, PL802 stays fine)
    Everything near PL902 / PL903 shows 18.0 Ω - 20.0 Ω

    Any ideas?

  • Nintendo Switch - Joy Cons won't charge, fan not spinning

    So, I've got the Nintendo Switch on the bench.
    Issue:
    * Won't charge up the joy-cons
    * Fan is not spinning.
    * Battery discharges very quickly
    * Serial number from joy-cons unavailable

    I have located the shorted diode near the cpu fan connector. Apparently that is pretty common issue. Once the diode has been removed the short is gone.

    Apparently it is going to work fine right know without the diode.
    But... I understand that this diode someone of course put there for a reason. Problem is I don't...

  • Lenovo IdeaPad 500S-14ISK LA-D061P REV: 1.0 - Powers on, no picture

    Hi,
    I've got at front of me Lenovo IdeaPad 500S-14ISK
    Motherboard: BIV3S LA-D061P REV: 1.0
    The issue is that it powers on but has no picture either on the screen or either through HDMI port.

    At first glance there is no visual damage on the motherboard, so I've tried flashing bios. That didn't help same result.

    Upon closer inspection I have found that I am missing voltage on coils PLI3 & PLI4 near CPU.

    So far I've located that voltage does disappear on the PUI2 and it is not shorted to the ground
    PIN1=4.94V
    PIN2=1.99V
    ...
