Any way to run XP in 3D?

I've been searching Google for a while, now and I can't find what I'm looking for. I was wondering if there are any mods/programs to make Windows XP run in 3D; to use the 3D processor. Instead, I come up with programs that give XP a 3D GUI, but not utilize my 3D card to run the whole of Windows.

    Any ideas?

I don't think windows can do this. I know it uses direct3d for acceleration. That is the only way I've seen it use the GPU ever.

      eh, the whole windows?
vista and 7 accelerate gui(mostly eye-candy...puke) via modern video-cards, but to run os solely via gpu?
      nope

today these are used to assist video decoding and decoding, to do those eye-candy effects, play games and alike.

windows still mostly relies on cpu and hdd(bastards).

It's not possible, while a GPU is good for certain (mostly very simple) calculations running a OS would not work

Mainly of course because a GPU is not a x86 processor but even if the kernel was written to support it it would not be faster than your averge Pentium 1Ghz at doing everyday stuff

Now for simple calculations like drawing rectangles on a screen or doing very specific workloads like Seti@Home a GPU can be extremely much more efficient than an x86 processor

I thought gpu's were like 100's of times faster than the cpu.

dunno about 100s of times, but they should be somewhat faster.
(but dunno if they're faster than c2d or c2q types of cpus...)
            but also less universal.
optimized for particular tasks...with a raw power that could be better utilised, but so far this was not employed too much.

probably because it's easier to stay on old stuff...

GPU's are faster at 'GPU things'. Not so sure about 100's of times though.

Well, I was hoping it would have an affect on image quality, since 2D uses Pixels (squares) and 3D uses Texels? (triangles) I was wondering what affect this would have on web browsing, image creation, surfing girly pics, etc.

Is there a web browser that runs in 3D?

                    Yes, all of them.
The browser doesn't make what's displayed 2D or 3D it just displays what's there.
If the image was made in 2D it displays 2D.
If the image was made in 3D it displays 3D.
                    -
Your thought on Pixels and Texels is N/A to this because the browser isn't processing raw data into an image it's just re-displaying a completed image that has already been processed somewhere else.

                      by Maxim Bojko
                      Hello,

I have a RTX 2080 that is broken, but interesting thing is that the card works how it should work, but when playing the card crashes, black screen fans go to 100% and nothing happens anymore. I changed thermal paste because I thought it was overheating, but no. So I checked with gpu z and here is what I had.

After a while a dude I got friends with told me to underclock the gpu via msi afterburner. First to underclock the core speed by 200 then open the chart for the mhz and voltage and said that I should change the mhz at 0,9v to 1900mhz. Since then I doesn't crash...

Mats / mods: detected and repaired GPU fault. Cant seem to test after!
                      by chronic519
                      Hello.

GPU came in, green lines. Spent lots of time using to get the Mats / mods drive working (found on youtube).
Found issue with a RAM block
                      Replaced, green lines gone.
Trying to test again, assuming getting the false positive. Originally had over 1K on a single bank. Now getting tosses low between banks.
Used a good card to test and same results low errors 32+.

I am just search for some form of command to do a full test on the GPU.
I just ran the mats command with my good GPU and passed after roughly 40 min.
                      The repaired one, ran...

Hello all. Hoping this is the right section to post and I have 3 questions that any one of them answered should fix me up. So I have a Dell precision T5810 with an E5-1650v3 cpu. I've been overclocking it using throttle stop. I'm at my TDP limit of 140 watts and I can't get past it. Where I'm at right now is in order from best solution to worst.
1 I need an unlocked bios. I have all the ami bios tools and a spi programmer. I've tried modding it and a couple of people from bios mods and win raid tried modding. I can't get any other menus to show up. If someone can successfully mod my bios...

Too many 16 bit programs running error
                      by televizora
After installing Java Runtime, I have some strange errors on some of my computers. Windows Explorer becomes unresponsive and then strange message pops up claiming that too many 16 bit programs are running.
There aren't any 16 bit programs on these computers. The OS is Windows 7 x86 SP1 fully updated. There aren't any 16 bit programs running, nor installed. No active instances of NTVDM or anything like this. Seems like it's a problem with UAC/consent.exe/ when trying to elevate the execution of certain programs. But the information about the issue is scarce. Is there anybody around here who...

8th gen 13" HP Spectre X360 - Is there a MODS like utility to determine which chip is faulty?
                      by AJ847.63e
                      Hi All,

We've got a 8th gen 13" Spectre X360 which seems to have faulty onboard memory. Windows was bluescreening with Memory_management errors. Running HPs built in memory test brings up memory errors, but it does not tell you which chip. Is there a MODS like program so you can determine this? Memory is on board unfortunately and don't really want to go order 8 chips and replace all 8 if I don't have to.

Lastly do you have to use the exact same chips, or can you use chips with the same specs but from other manufactures?

                      Thanks for your assistance....
