    sort-of.
you can get waterproof speakers but they are usually advertised for boats or garden use.

they use mylar cones instead of paper ones and the box is sealed to keep the moisture out.

actually you can buy a battery powered waterproof radio for use in showers for under $20
not exactly HI-FI but then the acustics are hardly great either!

I knew a tonedeaf girl many years ago that insisted on singing. Sure could have used a soundproof house.

No need for water proof. Any plastic coned speaker will work just don't put it in the shower. Some cheap computer speakers would be perfect if you keep the water off them. If you are that concerned you could look for non ported set and pull them apart and silicone the case. Plug them into a phone and off you go.

rofl... this so reminds me of the auditions for reality singing competitions e.g. american idol, x factor, the voice. they came here to sing but got so butthurt when told no. then dont audition/sing in the first place!

I took it as more of a him and girlfriend have different taste and he's trying to keep the peace.

If apartment or close houses and has decent gear he may be being neighborly.

Don't buy those $10 PSU "specials". They fail, and they have taken whole computers with them.

because it absorbs moisture and falls apart.

The other thing you could do is get noise canceling headphone. If you are not listening to anything you could just wear them or you could plug them into stereo, TV or laptop you're listening to.

More Lo-Fi speakers and another DIY surround repair. The patient this time: a pair of Philips F9217L-50R speakers from a budget Philips rack/component system from the '80's. The system belongs to my brother in-law… or actually his parents. However, they didn't want it when they moved houses and he liked it anyways, so he ended up keeping it. It's a pretty cool-looking vintage system with a wood/veneer cabinet and shelves for records and cassettes. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to take a picture of it or get the model #'s (but maybe next time I visit, if anyone is curious?)

                                          by Widget
                                          Hi guys,

I have a set of Logitech R20 speakers, one of the speakers wasn't working, so I took it apart & there was no continuity or Resistance when probing the Tinsel Wires. Plus looks like the speaker was exposed to liquid as there's rust on the metal speaker frame.

Just in case, I removed the other speaker and installed it in place of the damaged speaker to make sure the PCB of the damaged speaker was ok & it seemed to work fine, so it looks like it's just the speaker for now.

                                          Printed on the back of the Logitech speaker is;

I've had a set of speakers come in with the fault of not powering on.

I could hear something wrattling around in the speakers so we played a game called Guess What's In The Speakers! and this is what we found:

1 random loose nut and part of a BIC Biro pen.

After removing these foreign objects I plugged in the speaker and powered it on and found the volume to be quite low. On plugging in the other speaker it was very loud, but only out of the other speaker, this side was still very low.

                                          ...

Old Privileg 5.1 speakers remote control question
                                          by piipo
Hi, I have an old Privileg brand 5.1 speakers. I have lost the remote control. I have an universal Harmony remote but there is no Privileg brand in it's software to add. Does anybody have an idea what alternative brand for a remote can I try instead? I'm attaching an image of what the speakers looks like. The image shows 2 main speakers, they are 5 + 1 in total. Thank you very much

I am facing a strange issue, I don't have any sound over my internal MacBook speakers and also the video won't start. If I change to my head speaker or via HDMI (speaker on my external Display) the sound works over the head speaker or Display and also the video starts (ex. youtube).

All happened after the battery ran out of power overall several days when I was on vacation.

I tried to remove the battery and then reconnected the battery, and then the MacBook Pro 14 2021 won't accept any power from my power socket. Then I removed one speaker, connected again the battery...
