  • Re: Lifted trace, how to glue back down?

Thanks guys. I ended up just sticking the contact in and putting a blog of solder onto each leg & bridging to the resistor. The contacts I cleaned up, pretty beaten up but working.

One thing I noticed, the sticker on the bottom says DC output 1.4v but when I plug in the charger and probe the positive and negative contacts, the left contacts read 1.5v +/- and the right contact 2.3v +/- with voltages fluctuating a bit. I don't know much about chargers, I know they charge batteries at a slightly higher voltage than the batteries...

I understand soldering the legs together and to the track, but the contact itself would be wobbly. I could pickup some of that UV cure green PCB stuff, or even hot blue & glue down the contact itself from both sides & using a piece of wire, though I'm not sure how secure the contact would be.

So, besides trying some hi-heat resistant epoxy, there's no way of securing a new pad / copper tape to the board itself (that's soldering iron heat resistant)?

    Already...

  • Re: Lifted trace, how to glue back down?

    Thanks everyone for the feedback.

I bumped the pad and it broke off (see attached image) , so I'll have to try a method of replacing the pad as others suggested.

Hole-to-hole is 4mm, I'm not sure how to properly secure the battery contact. If I use a pad that isn't secured to the board, the contact is going to be loose and possibly pull at the new joint?...

  • Lifted trace, how to glue back down?

    Hi all,

I have a PCB and one of the tracks lifted. I tried using superglue but no good, didn't stick.

What have you had success with at gluing down traces/tracks ?...

    Thanks for the feedback guys,

I had the LED + circuit setup outside of the torch body and things seem to go well. I re-installed into the body and it started playing up.
I took it apart again and had a closer look, I noticed on the battery housing, the metal tube connecting the ground to the circle circuit, didn't have as much contact on one side but more on the other (see pictures in link)

I rotated the barrel so the tube that protrudes...

Thanks Guys. i tried a new battery ('Activ Energy' from ALDI) but still did the same thing. Interesting information on the batteries though. Are there any recommendations on a particular brand or type (NiMH or other) you would recommend over Alkaline?

The clicker on the back I tested first with continuity. Seemed to test good, though as the LED itself seems ok, I'll resemble and bypass the clicker just to confirm.

    Hmmm, thanks eccerr0r. But with...

ha! thanks stj. Just tried to edit the original post with the updated info. Thanks for getting back to me

Looks like I'll have to tinker with the circuit board now. Will I need to remove all components to properly test? I tried checking the resistor, it started at a figure then dropped down to 0.01, so not sure if there's interference.

    Thanks again ...

  • Small Eiger LED Torch

Hopefully this falls under "weird devices".

I have a small torch, nothing special. I tried using it today, but it turned off after a few seconds. This happened a few times. Then the LED inside started to get dim and flicker, then it would go off, then it would come on bright, then off, then on dim and flicker etc... if you get my drift. The battery is a AA 1.5v which works fine.

Now, it won't come on, so thought I'd tear it down and have a tinker. I'm still a novice, so don't really know what I'm doing. I thought I'd try the LED to see if it works (which...

  • Re: What component is this ?

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, Redwire. Thanks for the information, much appreciated .

So if that fuse is dead (as pictured), would the whole motor not work?

I ended up replacing the motor with a new (used) one, which worked straight away. , but I'll keep this info in mind for the future. ...

  • What component is this ?

    Hi all,

I'm trying to repair a window wiper motor which seemed to have water damage. I've cleaned it up but one of the three brushes was badly damaged. Looking at it, it seems to be some sort of electrical component, perhaps a resistor?

Is anyone able to identify it? I had a Google but no matches.

    Thanks ...

Thanks for the feedback redwire . You're right about the Acetone, good suggestion. I'll try dry-picking it out, see if I can do it that way....

Hey redwire, thanks for the reply . I think you may be right. I feel they are the square/rectangle shaped LED bulbs, like you've linked but likely clear Blue coloured.

I used some digital calipers and the measurements I got were, 2.7mm thick for acryclic, the hole is 3mm wide, 4mm deep & it looks to be 2mm thick, which match the dimensions in the link you posted.

Visually it looks like it take the domed (T1?) bulb, but upon inspection, it looks like the LED in there has a flat square shaped....

    Thanks for the reply STJ

I've been looking around but haven't much luck finding the same style. I'm not too sure how they're designed either, or what all the dots do. Are the dots the LEDS or does the sheet just distribute the light? I'm assuming the dots aren't the LEDs but I'm really unsure of how it's constructed. It looks like transparent acrylic block layered with transparent film that has dots, layered with another layer of white film (I can only assume its to diffuse the light?)

    What...

Not much luck with the screws, but it seems I have another issue. I noticed some legs were broken from what I assume is the LED backlight(?). Does anyone know the name of this part, whether it can be replaced or whether the piece I have is universal (ie I can get from Aliexpress)?...

Awesome, thank you Lotas . Curious where you found it. Service manual?

Step 1 got me stumped for a little bit I must admit. Thought it was telling me to lift and slide the front face downwards, but I just had to lift and unclip starting at the top and moving downwards. Got it in the end though.

    Thanks again

  • Samsung Syncmaster S22B150N

    Hi all,

I found a Samsung S22B150N in someones dump pile next to the road, so I grabbed it. Dunno if it works or not, physically it looks fine, but we had a little rain, so there's some wet spots (though it doesn't look like it got drenched, maybe a little sprinkle).

Anyways, I haven't plugged it in, I wanted to inspect the insides for water before doing that. Only issue is, I don't know how to open it...

I thought maybe the front bezel pulls off, but it's hard to get a grip and feels like it's on there good. I don't want to pull too...
