      Yea, TC.

Like Joe Pesci says in My Cousin Vinny: "Well there's a fuckin' surprise."

Hey M$! it's my damn computer and I'll use it how I want!!!

Yep, it's 1999 again, and we're repeating the "worst years of M$ and AOL."

What's the matter?! Weren't the vista and hate preludes enough for you to figure this out? Don't act like it's a big surprise; you've had fair warning since late 2007.

It's happening right now, and has been!

      Don't say you weren't warned.

Just like all the other KB mentioned this only installed if the "Recommended updates" box is ticked in the updates settings box.

You can still keep safe by staying fully patched, just configure the update settings properly.

                  avoid ubuntu,
and use the kde desktop option if your used to windows.

that's my advice for noobs coming from windows.

Why avoid ubuntu? Just because it's popular? It works out well for many people, including me. It's very easy for a Windows user to switch to using LXDE.

errr yea why the ubuntu hate? isnt there an official flavour of ubuntu that uses the K desktop environment (kde) called kubuntu?

and of course credits to and not forgetting the good people who made WINE. they made running windows programs while NOT running windows possible. hahaha!

ubuntu has minor spyware added by canonical - if you use the search - they get a copy.

                                Hey everyone.

I have a 820-3787-06 board from a MBP A1398 which has a screen issue. The problem starts with a bit of noise just like old TVs when booting and when the OS is on, screen jumps are added to the little noise on the screen. The jumps are millisecond and go back to the original place.

Since there's a little crack in the corner of the screen, I thought it has to be the display. But to my surprise it wasn't since I tried it with a fully functioning screen.

The same issue isn't happening with an external display. I did a gpu/cpu stress test on external...

                                Hello,

Please bear with me as this post might be a bit long, but this is the first GPU I tinker with, and I am using it as a learning excercise.

I received this GPU (PALIT GTX1070 Jetstream) from a friend who hadn't used it in a long while, put it in a machine, and things worked. Updated the drivers, and tried stress testing, after a minute or so there was some brief artifacting and the computer crashed.

I tried loads to get an image out of it again to no avail (back light stays on but no image or post). I obviously ruled out the basic stuff, different machines,...

The thread title is from a recent news article (and a follow up) on notebookcheck about Thunderbolt 3 failures.

Nearly 40 ThinkPad models have a problem - the Thunderbolt 3 ports in them randomly stop working. Lenovo has pushed out a fix to users, but what does it do? Does it actually solve the problem? If it doesn't, are the devices even repairable, and will Lenovo repair your device for free?

Lenovo notes these symptoms on their knowledge base page:

5.5 year old 85 inch Sony Bravia X950G started showing gray horizontal lines across the bottom of the screen and the picture shifts slightly vertically when it happens. The lines sometimes get bigger/smaller vertically and bounce back. See the video for the problem. It seems to be happening after it warms up after an hour or so. Happens regardless of source. Right now there's nothing but power cable connected and it's happening. We did hook up a new Nintendo Switch to our HDMI switching receiver today, and played for a while with no issues, but this problem didn't occur til a few hours later while...

I recently got my hands on a 60" Panasonic P60ZT60 plasma tv (european model) that has some strange issues along with an 8 blink code.
It know this tv is getting old but it was once considered one of the best plasmas ever made, and i think it is still holds on to that even by todays standards.

So, long story short. When i first got the tv it had a very bright washed out picture with very raised blacks in all picture modes and i couldn't find the cause in the picture setting menus.
After doing a factory reset this problem was gone and the picture was back to...
