    Worst Corrosion I've ever seen

This computer lived just 100 meters or so from the coast and, well... I'll let the pictures do the talking...

PS: Sorry about using HWI to host the images. I can't upload attachments anymore. The forum is way too slow now. I might resize them a bit later when I'm back on my PC and try again.

EDIT: Done. I had to resize them to 1366x768.

    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...1&d=1429787450
The back. I've seen plenty of PSUs with rust spots on the back, but not quite like that before.

    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...1&d=1429787450
The bottom of the case. It looks like moisture has been dripping there from the PSU.

    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...1&d=1429787450
    The PSU intake grille

The rest are the PSU's internals. Even Deltas aren't immune to corrosion, unfortunately.

Re: Worst Corrosion I've ever seen

I had a computer which had succumbed to salt air corrorsion (twice from the same client), and I've read in the Serviceman's Log in an issue of Silicon Chip where a TV repair involved corrosion from sea air.

you should see what can happen to arcade machines that operate on the seafront or pier with open-fronted buildings and lots of intake fans to keep them cool (and spread the death!)

Maybe, but I'd never even be able to give it away with that much corrosion on it.

I was given a Dell 3011 monitor that was literally looking out the window at the pacific ocean. PCB's were corroded beyond repair, but the panel was fine. Scavenged boards from one with a broken panel to repair it.

Yes, the pictures are extremely slow on the forum. Topcat, what's up with that?

I got a huawei D15 that came in for no power repair. Device charges , charging led flashedms but doesn't turn on. I found corrosion on an IC (ic name is BDJCY1...I can't find out much info about it online). I removed this ic and two pads are corroded but they can be repaired. To my knowledge inductors never short to ground (i might be wrong and please those that are more knowledgeable than me can correct me). I found few inductors short to ground when my multimeter is in beep mode ,indicating a short in the line of those inductors...but I don't know how to go about to find the shorted component...

                            Hi All,

Just wanted to get some advice on a XPS 9510 we have. Unit suddenly decided it no longer wants to turn on. Sometimes pressing the power button, it sits on keyboard lights no picture and boot loops a few times before shutting down. Other times it completely ignores the power button and does nothing. There is no light at the front of the laptop.
We are getting 20V on all 3 ports so the USB C PD communications working fine. We are getting 12V,3V3 and 5v so it seems like an issue quite late in the power sequence.

Removed the board and found dust corrosion...

This is a mid 2019 Macbook Pro touchbar model. Motherboard is 820-01598. Technical information is going to be attached below including power sequencing graph.

I am having the issue of no 20V on the USB C port. USB-C Stays at 5V permanently. Current draw is 130mA. If I connect and disconnect in a certain way I can sometimes obtain a 300mA draw.

This laptop came in for water damage and although there was some corrosion it was not very bad. The board was ultrasonic cleaned but is not powering on. Laptop was having 20V prior to cleaning but there was no signs of charge...

                            by Traptor
                            Hi Guys,
I have a Logitech Z506 with some problem.
The main problem was the front right and subwoofer gave a hard noise.
After the disassemble I found many corrosion on the mainboard as you can see on the pictures.
I removed the corrosions and the noise disappeared but the sound too.

I think some parts is damaged because of the corrosion.
I searched a lot on the internet but I cant find correct schematic for this pcb, so I dont know what is the correct values of the damaged parts.
But I found same good pictures of this board.
                            ...
