Re: best CMS
CMS?
Isn't this just another layer of complication that may not really be necessary?
I guess it's available for the lazy.
Sounds like a savy software engineer can code up a MySQL database with some script language and HTML/PHP and you have the same end result.“We the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful.
We have done so much, with so little, for so long, we are now qualified to do anything, with nothing.” -
Re: best CMS
well yeah i prefer just making static sites with my incredibly non compliant html and css. with a few java menus then its easy to add new pages. nice and fast loading, using up little server resources and in the end having an original design.
unfortunately it seems to be the way to go to use a cms. I find many sites have comments which are quite interesting. so comments feature is pretty important. Then if i can write a few articles one day and have them publish automatically one per day or so on that would be nice.
i tried joomla but never bothered to get past installing and modifying a theme. it looked like i was going to have to read the manual first......i have installed drupal and am going to have a go this weekend to see if i like it.
but yes it does add another layer of complication especially concerning the design which i think is very limiting in most cms because unless someone knows good css then it is necessary to get a theme and try to hack it a bit otherwise the site is looking like many others.Comment

Re: best CMS
I use Wordpress on my site, I just stripped off the blog part of it so that it works as a CMS.

by ProttHello!
Recently I have a problem finding a dead short (as far as my cheap multimeter is concerned) on a multilayered (12 layer) PCB. It is caused due to mechanical stress (warping the board and, I assume, cracking inner layers). Injecting voltage of 0.9 V (operational voltage of that part of the circuit) and drawing 0.5 W doesn't cause any visible hotspot on a thermal camera.
Does anybody have any tips & tricks in order to locate the short more or less precisely? The area has a lot of powerplanes, so it's both blessing and a curse.
Silly idea no. 1: Can I...-

by ProttHello dear Badcappers,
I came across a PS5 that was longscrewed. The screw went through the HDMI IC (which I replaced + repaired the traces it damaged), however the screw also bend the board and slightly cracked it on the other side. It still seems like it could be fixable though as the area might not have lots of traces going through it (fingers crossed).
Can somebody, please, measure their board and tell me if my assumption of an inner short between the via and ground layer is correct? These 3 pads have almost no resistance. I would like to make sure those are not some data...2 Photos07-27-2024, 08:54 AM -
by kalemaroniHas anybody tested this product? Posting this question on a Facebook tech group I'm in got a few responses like "that kind of thing corrodes the tips" and "just using normal solder paste is much better" so I'm not looking for generic responses like that, but rather, does anybody know for certain whether this exact product is good or bad for soldering iron tips?
