I think it was Stevo's first attempt at recapping and it was a seconded attempt with the Sanyos.
possibly doing a few things wrong (as you said) and on the learning curve.
I think he also used a multimeter for continuity checking and probes do tend to slip
so guess it all contributed to the resulting in the scratches.
light scratching of the solder mask so no big deal just doesn't look good
(unless of course you dig into the copper in a big way)
better if you don't but it happens
If the Hatino were low esr type they probably would have lasted for a while just not the best cap quality wise for the job.
When you look at the specs for the VR"M"
(module its is no longer but integrated on the MB)
You can see why these caps get a pounding and the best quality Low ESR is really a critical requirement I think for these positions.
Anyway so long as it lasts and gives you no problems you can call it a job well done....
