    Replacing Bestec ATX-250-12E psu with.....

I was researching on replacing a Bestec ATX-250-12E psu and so far have only come across replacement model Bestec ATX-300-12E. Size of the unit appears to be unique. Any suggestions of other models besides the 300, or is the 300 okay?

The psu is out of an old eMachine (2002?) that "just quit working." I tried to boot it up and nothing happened. Put in my spare psu and the computer booted.

any atx psu 250w or better with p4 +12 should do.
you are lucky you didnt lose the mobo with that bestec.
it is recappable but you need to do several other than the secondary.

eMachines is notorious for under-powering their systems. One mini tower unit I came across only had a 85W Lite-On Power Supply. It was a Celeron cpu, but still, no marginal of safety.
        I'd go with a 300-350W from a reputable brand.
As kc8du stated, any ATX unit should fit, as the chassis doesn't appear to be unique.

We have done so much, with so little, for so long, we are now qualified to do anything, with nothing.”

          Thanks for the input

I do remember reading (where???) that the mobos usually go too, so I was glad to see that it didn't :-).

Thanks for the input about the size of the chassis. I was under the impression it was unique -- but, I haven't dealt with these, so was glad to be able to post somewhere where others do deal with these. Cool!

Again, thank you both for your input.
