Hi..Can CPU Sockets be Purchased?? I have googled this and cannot find an answer so I am posting this thread ...Does anybody have an answer Please...

i'm sure technically, yes, but replacing them, i'm sure is somewhat insanely difficult

Exactly ? I am well aware of that ... so maybe it needs a completely different approach and I am happy to say I have now found where they can be purchased ..thanks

If you've had enough BGA rework experience and a proper BGA rework machine, it's no different than replacing other BGA chips.

but isn't there plastic right under the lga pins?

It's heat resistant plastic IIRC. Won't melt at the temperatures used for soldering/reworking, but if you overheat it, then it will melt. Most onboard connectors and slots are like that too.

There are dozens of sellers on ebay selling them.
