Big list of boards I have repaired.........

    ABIT KT7 RAID
    ABIT KT7A RAID
    BIOSTAR M7VQK
    ECS K7SEM
    ECS D6VAA
    AMPTRON K7-810LMR
MSI 6390L <---my greatest feat...replaced most of the caps and reattached one whole side of the winbond surface mounted chip with just a regular soldering iron.
Probably others, but that's all i can think of ATM.

Sorry I don't have a list of the exact caps and locations on each board. I just found this website a few days ago. What I do have is a lot of the bad caps I have replaced. Why I saved them, I have no idea.
    Here they are:
    Ost 6.3v 3300uF
    Choyo 10v 2200uF
    G Luxon 6.3v 2200uF
    G Luxon 6.3v 1500uF
    G Luxon 6.3v 470uF
    G Luxon 6.3v 1000uF
    Lelon 6.3v 1000uF
Man, if I had a nickle for every cap I've replace, I'd have a couple bucks.

I wish I had kept a list of all the boards I've recapped....... It'd be a hell of a list! I keep the bad caps in large coffee cans, and when they're full, I pitch them in the dumpster... I tossed 4 full cans last Friday, which makes over 20 cans by now....

That's why I use the coffee cans with sealable lids... Contains the stink! The aroma is vile when I pop the lid off... BLEHH

Well, it's not really a problem with caps like TMS or Chhsi, since most of the electrolyte isn't inside the can anymore anyway.

I don`t know if they make trouble in landfills too, but in waste incinerating plants they do mutch harm to the water /steam/heat transfering pipes. They containe some fluoride, wich will be transformed to fluoric acid, wich will corrode even the best stainles stell and those heattesistant ceramics too.
This is wat i have learned by a vissite on such a wast power plant.

Fluoride salts? Seriously? That would make the electrolyte rather toxic too, well, depending on how much is actually in there.

Certainly if hydrofluoric acid is generated to any degree it will dissolve almost anything, including glass... Certainly polymers are usually used to contain it, or indeed fluorine itself if you're really daring.

Ammunition! I think that was suggested in the firearms thread and I can't get over the idea. Seriously, the bulged tops would be aerodynamic, and there's not much that destroys dignity more than getting shot with a perfectly bulged Fuhjyyu, with its signature tiny leak in the crosshairs... or worse yet, smelly expired-Teapo buckshot.
You know there's something wrong when you open up a PSU and are glad to find Teapos.

( 1 ) Take either of the following methods in disposing of capacitors.
                            a. Make a hole in the capacitor body or crush capacitors and incinerate them.
                            b. If incineration is not applicable, hand them over to a waste disposal agent and have them buried in a landfill.

                                Hello All,

I am trying to repair an old Abit ST6-R motherboard.

                                The symptoms are the following:
I got it in a non-working state. I was told that it sometimes turned on, but many times just the CPU fan was spinning and no other signs of life, the board didn't POST, and now it doesn't POST at all.

It was full of bulged electrolytic capacitors, so I replaced all of them with new Low-ESR ones, but it didn't solve the problem.
If I install a CPU in the S370 socket, only the fans are spinning and no POST. There are no beep codes even if the RAM DIMMs...

                                Hey guys,

I have an Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0 motherboard with AMD RAIDXpert. I set up a 1000GB RAID1 array on it. This was about 8 years ago. Every once in a while, a power outage or something would knock one drive offline and degrade the array. After a reboot the drive would be back online and it would rebuild just fine.

Recently, a drive dropped offline and the array became degraded. I figured it was no big deal and rebooted then set it to rebuild overnight. The next morning I took a look and both drives had dropped offline at 70% rebuild. Uh oh.

                                I rebooted...

Abit BX133-RAID odd issue, bad caps?
                                by PeTTs0n
                                I just bought a bundle with a Abit BX133-RAID, a 866MHz P3 (SL4CB) and a 256MB PC133 SDRAM stick, that the seller claims were working fine together.
After building a rig out of it, with a known working PSU (Seasonic S12II 520W, for its good 3.3V and 5V rails), I get a good startup screen, but as soon as I try to enter the BIOS, it locks up with a blue bar across the bottom of the screen.

I have seen one thread from 2010 about this issue specifically on Vogons, and the consensus there was that bad caps may very well have something to do with it, and although I can't see any...

Hey guys, I have an ABIT KT7 RAID motherboard that will only POST every other time I try it.

When first powering it up, all the fans and drives spin up but I get no display and no beep. If I then turn the switch off on the power supply while it is running and wait for everything to stop and try again, it boots up just fine and works great until I shut it off.

It doesn't matter if it has sat for a while or if I was just using it, it always takes exactly 2 tries to get it to POST.

Hope this is in the correct place.

I'm planning on recapping both motherboards. I actually already ordered recplament caps for them, where I will be changing out most for poly's.
Could use some double checking to see if I'm not doing something stupid .

Pictures of the boards are attached.
