ABIT KT7 RAID only POSTs every other time

Hey guys, I have an ABIT KT7 RAID motherboard that will only POST every other time I try it.

When first powering it up, all the fans and drives spin up but I get no display and no beep. If I then turn the switch off on the power supply while it is running and wait for everything to stop and try again, it boots up just fine and works great until I shut it off.

It doesn't matter if it has sat for a while or if I was just using it, it always takes exactly 2 tries to get it to POST.

Rebooting from windows also doesn't work as it just hangs in the exact same way and I have to turn the power supply switch off and on again for it to boot.

I know capacitors going bad can cause all sorts of strange issues but since this problem is so specific and repeatable does it really sound like bad caps? None of the caps are swollen or leaking.

    also consider bad/incompatible PSU?

Sorry, I forgot to mention it does the same thing with a different PSU. Also different ram has been tested.

this kind of issue can be due to defect in almost any component on the board. to find out, you have to do a number of measurements on the mainboard when it does not display anything. are all the voltage rails present when the mainboard does not display anything?

Well I fixed the problem accidentally. Was trying to reinstall windows and had an ACPI error so I reset the BIOS to default settings and that somehow fixed my no POST issue. Must've had something screwed up in the BIOS that was causing it.

            Abit ST6-Raid repair
            by tbalint3
            Hello All,

I am trying to repair an old Abit ST6-R motherboard.

            The symptoms are the following:
I got it in a non-working state. I was told that it sometimes turned on, but many times just the CPU fan was spinning and no other signs of life, the board didn't POST, and now it doesn't POST at all.

It was full of bulged electrolytic capacitors, so I replaced all of them with new Low-ESR ones, but it didn't solve the problem.
If I install a CPU in the S370 socket, only the fans are spinning and no POST. There are no beep codes even if the RAM DIMMs...

Gaming Laptop Zephyrus S17 TFT not detected every time !
            by titomno2
            Hi guys,
I post my problem here because I think it could be a capacitor related issue (Asus support on this particular subject is non-existing).
So the computer is a Zephyrus-S17-GX735LXS-26T and the strange behavior is seen.
On cold start most of the time the internal screen is detected and a picture it works fine until shutdown, sleep or deep sleep.
Then the screen won't work for a long period of time.
If I wait 1 or 2 hours it work again most of the time.
When it doesn't work the batterie indicator blink 3 times white stop and the same schematic is repeated...

Adding a clock battery to action camera to retain date&time when changing batteries Campark X25
            by flat-earther
I have a cheap action camera with an annoying trait, every time I change batteries the date & time gets reset and I have to set it again.

To solve this problem I want to add a small internal battery inside it which will keep supplying power to the camera for a while while I change batteries so the date & time is retained.

I have opened the camera and I think there is enough room to add something inside to accomplish this:

The camera is powered by a 3.7V nominal single cell lithium ion battery.
So I need to connect another battery in...

Abit BX133-RAID odd issue, bad caps?
            by PeTTs0n
            I just bought a bundle with a Abit BX133-RAID, a 866MHz P3 (SL4CB) and a 256MB PC133 SDRAM stick, that the seller claims were working fine together.
After building a rig out of it, with a known working PSU (Seasonic S12II 520W, for its good 3.3V and 5V rails), I get a good startup screen, but as soon as I try to enter the BIOS, it locks up with a blue bar across the bottom of the screen.

I have seen one thread from 2010 about this issue specifically on Vogons, and the consensus there was that bad caps may very well have something to do with it, and although I can't see any...

HP Pavilion dm4-1065dx long time to get the power led on
            by OscarAV
            Hello,

I just came here to see if someone has had the same problem I have, and if he or she solved It, to know how to do It.

I have made a quick search for my laptop but I have not seen anything similar.

I have an old laptop, an HP Pavilion dm4-1065dx which takes a lot of time to be ready to start if the laptop has been unplugged for a while. It has no battery. The battery failed long time ago. It needs to be plugged to work. But as I said, It can take a lot of time until the charging led gets on, and I can switch on the laptop. I am using an external monitor...
